Its body was made by the Italian design studio Ghia, and Chrysler completed its assembly in Detroit.\u00a0\r\n\r\nChrysler Turbine Engine\r\nSome Reasons why turbines are not used in Automobile Cars.\u00a0\r\n\r\n \tAs you can see, turbines take up a lot of space.\r\n \tAnd they are very expensive to manufacture and maintain. An internal combustion engine is practically maintenance free by comparison. Electric motors are maintenance free, for all practical purposes.\r\n \tNo engine braking at all. Granatelli's car had an air brake to make up for that, but that's a solution designed for very high speeds and long runoff areas.\r\n \tExhaust Gas\u00a0 Temperature is more and exhaust gas has high velocity which can throw\u00a0 to any body which behind the car.\r\n \tYou need mechanical power output (like a helicopter; it's not practical for a car to just stream hot exhaust out the back like a jet). You need great part-throttle efficiency (since you spend so much time cruising along at maybe 20% of peak power), and the ability to produce tens-to hundreds of horsepower (rather than hundreds-to-thousands). You need a wide speed band (or a very expensive transmission). You need it to be able to start and stop with a minimum of fuss (no multi-minute warm-up and cool-down cycles during which you can't make usable power), and you need to be cheap. Turbines satisfy basically none of these. \r\n \tThe principle issue is efficiency. In short, small turbines are not efficient. This is mostly due to tip leakage around the compressor and turbine blades. It turns out to be easier to make relatively smaller tip gaps on large engines. And while some techniques used by the most efficient large engines might be scaled down (like active clearance control), that gets very expensive in a small engine, and still leaves you with a fairly inefficient engine.\r\n\r\nIn small sizes conventional gasoline or diesel engines have it all over gas turbines for efficiency.\r\n \tTurbines are much lighter and therefore would not require a heavy chassis. Weight reduction is one main key to fuel efficiency. The Chrysler was a stock car (fairly heavy) and didn't take advantage of the turbines low weight.\r\n \tTheir idle and low-load fuel efficiency is appalling. Most car engines spend the majority of their lives far from peak power output, so turbines' high efficiency at high load wouldn't really help them here.\r\n \tThe obvious issues that Chrysler had back then are still issues with turbine power today. They don't perform well in cold weather for a quick start up and drive away like most people are used to. Therefore, to improve upon the monitoring techniques and analysis tools for finding the gear ratios in the gearbox and the current passing through the motor running the gearbox, there has been a constant endeavour for improvement in these monitoring techniques.\r\n\r\ndesign and fabrication of idler gears in variation speed gear box\r\n\r\nTechniques such as wear and debris analysis, vibration monitoring and acoustic emissions require accessibility to the gearbox either to collect samples or to mount the transducers on or near the gearbox. But dusty environment, background noise, structural vibration etc. may hamper the quality and efficiency of these techniques. Hence, there is a need to monitor the gearbox away from its actual location, which can be achieved through Motor current signature analysis (MCSA) which has already been successfully applied to condition monitoring of induction motor and in bearings.\r\n\r\nWORKING PRINCIPLE:\r\n\r\nHere we use five gears, one is fixed in the motor shaft, which is known as driven shaft, and remain four gears are engaged in straight line. The gears are of different ratio by this the speed of the shaft will be vary. For example, if the 1st gear rotates at 40 rpm then the 2nd gear will rotate at 20 rpm and the 3rd gear will rotate at 40 rpm and then the 4th gear will rotate at 50 rpm. As explained earlier, it has some benefits at the cost of the fuel economy.\r\n\r\nWhen it comes to the gearless bikes, the functionality is done such as the bike runs on constant RPM. And there is no manual control over the RPM. Here the Continuously Variable Transmission makes use of the automatic adjustment of speed with pulley. It makes hassle-free driving with gear-less but at the expense of fuel. The more it stops without keeping engine running the more fuel it will consume to fire up and keeping the RPM steady. This results in the limit of how much mileage a bike can give with this lack of control. Also it can affect how much pickup it can take compared to the geared vehicles.\r\n\r\nIn case of geared vehicles, the clutch is used to disconnect the engine from wheels. Here RPM is controlled with the gears. The fuel consumption is reduced due to manual control over the RPM. And here the pickup is improved. Also the bike when needs to stop, requires the use of clutch or the break. If used, it can stop the bike and fuel consumption to fireup the bike, is relatively less. This shows up in the mileage and overall fuel consumption of the geared bike. There is a power loss during the state that requires up for the CVT and clutch but compared to gearless bikes, less fuel is consumed. This is where the role of clutch is important for geared vehicles.\r\n\r\nThe variator system usually works for doing the work of clutch for adjusting the RPM apart from the CVT system.\r\n\r\nContinuously Variable Transmission\r\nContinuously Variable Transmission (CVT) Explained\r\nCVT is an \u201cinfinite speed\u201d transmission which can change steplessly through an infinite number of effective gear ratios between maximum and minimum values. Unlike traditional automatic transmissions, continuously variable transmissions don't have a gearbox with a set number of gears, which means they don't have interlocking toothed wheels. The word gear in CVT refers to a ratio of engine shaft speed to driveshaft speed. Moreover, CVTs change this ratio without using a set of planetary gears.\r\n\r\nDifferent types of CVTs \u2013\r\n1. Pulley-based CVTs\r\n2. Toroidal CVTs\r\n3. Hydrostatic CVTs\r\n\r\nThe most common CVT design uses a segmented metal V-belt running between two pulleys.
