We hope that a good idea will develop and we can use it in many industries in surrounding and our practical knowledge, team-working skill, leadership skills will be improved.\r\n\r\n\r\nIntroduction :\r\n\r\n\r\nIn shearing or cutting operation as or blade descends upon the metal, the pressure exerted by the blade first cause the plastic deformation of the metal. Since the clearance between the two blades is very small, the plastic deformation takes place in a localized area and the metal adjacent to the cutting edges of the blade edges becomes highly stressed, which causes the fracture to start on both sides of the sheet as the deformation progresses and the sheet is sheared.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nSee Also:\u00a0Function Of shearing and Shearing machine Working Principle\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nTypes of shearing Machine:\r\n1) Pneumatically operated\r\n2) Hydraulically operated\r\n3) Rack and pinion operated\r\n4) Spring operated\r\n\r\nBrief description of all the types is as follows.\r\n\r\n1) Pneumatically operated:-\r\n\r\nHere the advancement of the header is carried out in the upward and the downward direction using the pneumatic double acting piston and cylinder unit arrangement along with the foot operated direction control valve. In this type of machine high pressure air is used as the working fluid for the transfer of power and the motion.\r\n\r\nWorking:\r\n\r\n\r\nInitially the air-compressor is started and allowed the receiver tank air pressure to reach up to 8 bar. The supply air is then passed to the manifold through FRL unit to condition the air and eligible to industrial use.\r\nFrom the manifold a separate supply for the machine is taken out and given to ON-OFF switch, so as to operate the machine at will without interrupting the running of compressor.\r\nThen the pipe carries compressed air first to machine\u2019s Direction Control Valve. At position \u2018A\u2019 shows the non-actuated circuit diagram. At this position the piston is steady and locked. And thus the shearing action takes place.\r\nNow the DC valve is operated to come at position \u2018C\u2019, as shown in figure. The rod end port &amp; pressure port get connected to each other and the cap end port gets connected to the exhaust port. The compressed air comes in the rod end of the cylinder and pushes the pistons inwards. The air already present in the cap end side is pushed out of the cylinder.\r\nThe sheet metal is either again inserted for further cutting in case of large pieces; the small cut pieces are removed and the next sheet is inserted to cut.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nMerits-\r\n\r\n1. Hydraulics present certain advantages over pneumatics, but in a given application, pneumatic powered equipment is more suitable, particularly in industries where the factory units are plumbed for compressed air.\r\n2. Moreover, to avoid corrosive actions, oil or lubricants are added so that friction effects can be reduced.\r\n3. Compressed air is used in most of the machines and in some cases compressed carbon dioxide, whereas cutting process is become easy.\r\n4. Fast cutting action is carried out.\r\n5. Cutting without bending is achieved.\r\n\r\nDemerits-\r\n\r\n1. Sheet more than 2 mm thickness cannot cut easily.\r\n2. Compressed air is must.\r\n3. The type of process employed for moulding die has an effect over properties like surface finish, microstructure, hardness, toughness, etc. of the resultant product. In modern days industries there are many factors, which affects the decision of selecting the type of moulding die process to be used. This includes properties of cast product, cost incurred in manufacturing, lead-time, and environmental effects of the process. Magnetic mould die is an application of electromagnetism to the process of moulding die. Steel shots constitute the mould that is formed by application of magnetic field on them. The application of magnetic field that induces magnetic bonds between steel shots which gives strength to mould. This reduces the time elapsed in ramming process. Also, breaking of mould becomes easier by using magnetic field, as it is required to switch off the supply to turn down the magnetic field and mould breaks. This process employs a one-piece mould and an EPS (expandable polystyrene) pattern, which gives an advantage of cast products being free of defects associated with joint line. Also the products have better dimensional tolerances than the products obtained from conventional methods. The amount of machining required is less thus reducing the time and cost involved in finishing a product for use. The mechanical properties like tensile strength, impact strength and hardness of the products cast from this have higher values as compared to sand moulding die products. The reason behind this improved might be the higher solidification rate of steel mould as its thermal conductivity is more than the sand mould.\r\n\r\nEXPERIMENTAL PROCEDURE\u00a0\r\nInitially parameters for MMC are decided. First step is to select a design of magnetic setup and to define parameters like gauge of copper wire, intensity of field required, size of steel shots, composition of steel shots, size of expendable polystyrene pattern and refractory coating on its surface. The following steps are followed to perform magnetic mould casting:\u00a0\r\n\r\nA hollow cylindrical box of aluminums is used to wind the coils over it. Copper wire is used. copper coil is used for coiling. An iron box is inserted into the mould box to form the core for magnetic field. For supply to the copper coil, a power rectifier in series to battery is connected. DC supply is given to the copper coils.\r\nSteel shots are filled in the mould box and then pattern is kept in center and steel shots are kept pouring. Steel shots are poured up to the level of pouring basin. After the settling of pattern in surrounding steel shots supply is switched on and magnetic field is applied on steel shots. These steel shots gets bind to each other due to magnetic force and thus a mould comprising of steel shots around the pattern is formed. Increasing field intensity, which can be increased by increasing the voltage, increase strength of mould. For better efficiency, improvement of power transmit rate is important phenomenon.\r\n\r\nIntroduction\u00a0\r\nGearboxes are used in almost every industry right from power to marine, and also include agriculture, textile, automobiles, aerospace, shipping etc. There are different types of gearboxes available for varying uses. These gearboxes are constructed from a variety of materials depending on their end use and the kind of industry they are being used in. The product has numerous industrial applications for providing high torque and smooth speed reductions. These gearboxes are also manufactured keeping certain specifications in mind, which will also vary depending on the application.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nGear box analysis\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nFunctions of a Gearbox\r\n1. A gearbox is precisely bored to control gear and shaft alignment.\r\n2. It is used as a housing\/container for gear oil.\r\n3. It is a metal casing for protecting gears and lubricant from water, dust and other contaminants.\r\n\r\nSimple differential Gear box:\r\n\r\nBevel gearboxes are special speed reducers with their shafts lying perpendicular to each other and therefore used mainly in right-angle applications. The gearbox is a kind of right angle gear and is suitable for a right angle solution with a low ratio. These gearboxes save more energy as compared to worm gears and are available in varying gear ratios.\r\n\r\nMaterials Used\r\n\r\n \tThese gearboxes are constructed from a variety of materials. Some of the popularly used materials are\r\n\r\n\r\n \tCast Iron\r\n \tAluminum Alloy\r\n \tSteel\r\n\r\n\r\n \tThe ratio of a bevel gearbox can be determined by dividing the number of teeth in the larger gear by the number of teeth in the smaller one.
