Studies like that of Kaliyan and Morey (2009) show that varying the compression parameters during briquetting such as temperature and pressure affects the characteristics of the output briquettes such as combustion performance and durability. On that note, the proponents of this research made that as their motivation which eventually led to the development of an automated briquetting machine prototype for experimentation purposes that could bridge the gap between compression parameters and briquette characteristics.\r\nThe fabricated machine used a pressure switch and a band heater for its pressure and temperature variation mechanisms respectively while a PLC was utilized to make the machine\u2019s operation automated. Moreover, the machine is composed of a mixing chamber intended for thorough mixing of the feedstock, a cylindrical mold where the feedstock would be briquetted, and a hydraulic system which is responsible for the mold\u2019s movements as well as the compression mechanism of the machine. Based on the data collected, the machine demonstrated\u00a0a tolerance of less than 10% and a return of investment of about 2 years when retrofitted for mass\u00a0production. Furthermore, the machine is safe to use because it can be operated by simply using\u00a0the buttons provided in its control panel and has an emergency stop button when emergency\u00a0arises. In the end, the machine was able to form briquettes at varied pressure and temperature and\u00a0could be used for future studies regarding briquetting parameters optimization.\r\n\r\n\r\nIntroduction :\r\n\r\nFossil fuels are the major source for energy.The excess use of these fuels will lead to serious\r\nenvironmental issues like global warming and air pollution. Since the fossil fuels are getting depleted day by day,it is the high time to convert biomass wastes such as sawdust, coir pitch, coffee husk, rice husk etc., to useful biomass briquettes which will be the substitute for some of the fossil fuels. This paper focuses on the design and fabrication of briquetting machine which is portable and can be done at very low cost. It also focuses on the production of biomass briquettes using raw materials mainly sawdust and dry leaves with binding agents like coffee husk and wheat flour.\r\nAlso study is carried out to investigate the calorific values of the briquettes using bomb calorimeter. The results indicated that the briquettes made from sawdust, dry leaves and very small amount of wheat flour (binding agent) are compact, dry and have greater calorific value when compared to the briquettes made from sawdust, dry leaves and coffee husk (binding agent) are not strongly bonded and possesses slightly lower calorific value.\r\n\r\nMain Components and its working :\r\n\r\n\r\n \t1. GRINDING UNIT: This unit consists of a Hopper, Motor, Grinder Blade, Sieve plate. The hopper is placed on the hollow circular disc and is supported by two vertical stands, which is placed diametrically opposite to each other. The blade grinder and sieve plate is placed inside the hopper. The motor required to rotate the grinding blades are mounted on the vertical support provided on the hollow disc.\r\n \t2. CARRIER UNIT:This unit is consists of guide ways and sliding member , can move easily in the specified path to carries the grinded raw materials from the hopper to the cylinder (compressing unit). The guide way is attached to the thick hollow disc to which the legs are attached to that act as a support.Sliding member is rectangular box,it is used to carry the raw material from hopper to the cylinder.\r\n \t3. COMPRESSING UNIT:It consists of a Telescopic jack, cylinder and a piston. The jack drives the piston inside the cylinder,here we are using a jack which upon rotation move the piston in and out of the cylinder. The piston and cylinder are machined to the close dimensional tolerance so that the piston moves easily inside the cylinder.The grinded raw materials are put in to the cylinder, these materials inside the cylinder are compressed into briquettes upon the application of force by the jack. Result generated by the FEA software ANSYS, allows to evaluate and optimize the snap joint prior to committing costly prototypes and tooling.\r\n\r\n\r\n example of snap joint\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nIntroduction :\r\nSnap-fits are the simplest, quickest and most cost effective method of assembling two parts. When designed properly, parts with snap-fits can be assembled and disassembled numerous times without any adverse effect on the assembly. Snap-fits are also the most environmentally friendly form of assembly because of their ease of disassembly, making components of different materials easy to recycle.\r\nAlthough snap-fits can be designed with many materials, the ideal material is thermoplastic because of its high flexibility and its ability to be easily and inexpensively molded into complex geometries. Other advantages include its relatively high elongation, low coefficient of friction, and sufficient strength and rigidity to meet the requirements of most applications.\r\nThe designer should be aware that the assembly may have some \u201cplay\u201c due to tolerance stack-up of the two mating parts. Some snap-fits can also increase the cost of an injection molding tool due to the need for slides in the mold. An experienced designer can often eliminate the need for slides by adding a slot in the wall directly below the undercut or by placing the snaps on the edge of the part, so they face outward.\r\n\r\nTypes of Snap-Fits\r\nMost engineering material applications with snap-fits use the cantilever design. The cylindrical design can be employed when an unfilled thermoplastic material with higher elongation will be used (a typical application is an aspirin bottle\/cap assembly).\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nOther types of snap-fits, which can be used, are the \u201cU\u201c or \u201cL\u201c shaped cantilever snaps (see Part V for more detail).\r\nThese are used when the strain of the straight cantilever snap cannot be designed below the allowable strain for the given material.\r\n\r\n\r\nSNAP FIT DESIGN CONSIDERATION\r\nThe snap joint deals with various types of common issues like stress concentration, creep and fatigue. This should be resolved during designing a joint. To resolve these issues there are some guidelines to be followed during design practice. Most of the snap joint are formed by the material commonly used is thermoplastic. We know that due to sharp edges or corners common failure is stress concentration, to avoid this failure we have one solution to incorporate fillet in a desired manner. If sink marks are an issue, a smaller radius can be used, but it may increase the stress in this\u00a0area. The stiffness of thermal plastic can be improved by adding glass fiber or composite to the base resin. Creep or more accurately stress relaxation, can result in a reduction of the holding force between the two components connected by the snap fit. To avoid creep there should be relaxation in tension and relaxation in bending. To avoid fatigue failure, choose a material which can perform well in fatigue. This material can be chosen by comparing their S\/N curves prior to the snap joint application. Reducing these issues is a major challenge by considering all the parameters in their desired form of a snap fit joint.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n Types of Snap-Fits\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nDEVELOPMENT OF SNAP JOINT IN FINITE ELEMENT MODEL\r\nA two-dimensional finite element model of a tapered snap lock was developed to investigate various factors influencing snap fit pull strength. The model was generated in FEA software ANSYS, which allows nonlinear contact analysis and conduct results for several hundred iterations easily. Provisions were made to adjust the snap catch rake angle, size of snap beam support region and amount of beam taper or taper ratio. Since the deflection behavior of a snap beam is primarily two-dimensional. For efficient results fine meshing is done. Nodes on the outer periphery of this matting region were fixed by edge meshing. Coefficient of friction between the two mating surface was also defined as a material constant elements. A support region around the base of the snap beam was also included in the model to capture the influence of support stiffness. The solutions are progressed by incrementally moving the mating contact surface vertically in the y-direction until total cam-out of the snap beam catch surface occurred. Typical runs on a high end personal computer would required about 200-500 iterations and take about 2-10 minutes.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nCONCLUSION\r\nWide research has been carried out in the field of design of snap fit joint in plastic parts. From these paper it can be noted that the most significant factor influencing the push or pull strength of a cantilever snap fit are snap beam taper ratio , catch rake angles and coefficient of friction between the mating surface. To optimize plastic molded component utilizing robust snap fit, Finite element analysis software like ANSYS plays a vital role. LPG from storage tank comes to the adjustable regulator through a primary delivery valve fitted at the mouth of the LPG cylinder.\r\nINTRODUCTION\u00a0\r\n\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0The LPG means Liquefied Petroleum Gas. \u00a0It is also called as bottled gas (or) Refinery gas. \u00a0It is obtained as a by product during cracking of heavy crude oils or from directly obtained natural gas. \u00a0The LPG obtained either from cracking or from CNG (Compressed Natural Gas) is dehydrated, desulphurised and traces of organic sulphide (Mercaptans) are added to give warning of gas leak.\r\n\r\nIt is then filled in cylinders and added to give warning of gas leak. \u00a0It is then filled in cylinders and compressed to that extend the fuel gas in liquid state and supplied under the trade name like INDANE-BURSHANE, and many other such suppliers. \u00a0The calorific value is 27.800 Keal\/m approximately.\r\n\u00a0Natural gas technology I.C engines beats the current emission standards for hydro carbons (HC) and nitrous oxide (NO) by more than two thirds and level for carbondioxide (CO) by more half. Slot milling operation can use any type of milling cutter like plain milling cutter, metal slitting saw, or side milling cutter. Straddle Milling Operation\r\n\r\n \tThis is similar to the side milling operation. Two side milling cutters are mounted on the same arbor. Distance between them is so adjusted that both sides of the workpiece can be milled simultaneously. Hexagonal bolt can be produced by this operation by rotating the workpiece only two times as this operation produces two parallel faces of bolt simultaneously.\r\n\r\n straddle milling\r\n\r\n15. Helical Milling Operation\r\n\r\n \tHelical milling produces helical flutes or grooves on the periphery of a cylindrical or conical workpiece. This is performed by swiveling the table to the required helix angle, then rotating and feeding the workpiece against revolving cutting edges of the milling cutter. Helical gears and drills and reamers are made by this operation.\r\n\r\n16. Cam Milling Operation\r\n\r\n \tThe operation cam milling is used to produce the cam on the milling machine. In this operation cam blank is mounted at the end of the dividing head spindle and the end mill is held in the vertical milling attachment.\r\n\r\n17. Thread Milling Operation\r\n\r\n \tThe operation thread milling produces threads using thread milling centers. This operation needs three simultaneous movements revolving movement of cutter, simultaneous longitudinal movement of cutter, feed movement to the workpiece through a table.\r\n \tFor each thread, the revolving cutter is fed longitudinally by a distance equal to the pitch of the thread. The depth of the cut is normally adjusted equal to the full depth of threads.\r\n\r\n18. It is done with a single-point cutting tool shaped like a lathe tool bit. It is held and rotated by a fly cutter arbor. You can grind this cutter to almost any form that you need, as shown in Figure.\r\n \tFormed cutters are expensive. There are times when you need a special form cutter for a very limited number of parts. Drilling :\u00a0\r\n\r\nThe milling machine may be used effectively for drilling, since the accurate location of the hole may be secured utilizing the feed screw graduations. Spacing holes in a circular path, such as the holes in an index plate, may be accomplished by indexing with the index head positioned vertically.\r\n\r\nTwist drills may be supported in drill chucks fastened in the milling machine spindle or mounted directly in milling machine collets or adapters. The workpiece to be drilled is fastened to the milling machine table by clamps, vises, or angle plates.\r\n\r\n20. Boring :\r\n\r\n \tVarious types of boring tool holders may be used for boring on the milling machine. the boring tools being provided with either straight shanks to be held in chucks and holders or taper shanks to fit collets and adapters. The two attachments most commonly used for boring are the fly cutter arbor and the offset boring head.\r\n \tThe single-edge cutting tool used for boring on the milling machine is the same as a lathe cutter bit.
