Although, there is a similar technology which the\u00a0petrol engines\u00a0also use it is known\u00a0as Gasoline Direct Injection (GDI) or Fuel Stratified Injection (FSI).\r\n \tBoth these technologies have a similarity in design since they consist of a common \u201cfuel-rail\u201d which supply fuel to injectors. However, they considerably differ from each other in pressures &amp; type of fuel used.\r\n \tIn\u00a0Common Rail Direct Injection,\u00a0commencement of\u00a0combustiontakes place directly into the\u00a0main combustion chamber\u00a0located in a cavity on the top of the piston crown.\r\n \tToday, manufacturers use\u00a0CRDi\u00a0technology to overcome some of the\u00a0deficiencies of conventional diesel engines which were sluggish, noisy and poor in performance\u00a0when implemented especially in passenger vehicles.\r\n \tThe\u00a0CRD-i technology\u00a0works in tandem with the engine\u00a0ECU\u00a0which gets inputs from various sensors.\r\n \tA Common Rail system uses a \u2018common-for-all-cylinders\u2019 fuel-rail or in simple words a 'fuel distribution pipe'.\r\n\r\nSee also ;\u00a0What is TSI Engine - benefits Of TSI Engines\r\n\r\nDiesel - Common rail\r\n\r\n \tIt maintains optimum\u00a0residual fuel pressure\u00a0and also acts as a shared fuel reservoir for all the injectors.\r\n \tIn\u00a0CRDi\u00a0system, the fuel-rail constantly stores and supplies the\u00a0fuel to the solenoid valve injectors at the required pressure.\r\n \tThis is quite opposite to the fuel injection pump supplying diesel thru\u2019 independent fuel lines to injectors in case of earlier generation (DI) design.\r\n\r\nComponents of CRDi System \u2013\r\n\r\n\r\n \tHigh Pressure Fuel Pump\r\n \tCommon Fuel Rail\r\n \tInjectors\r\n \tEngine Control Unit\r\n\r\nWorking of CRDi -\r\n\r\n\r\n \tA high-pressure pump generates pressurised fuel.\r\n \tThe pump compresses the fuel at the pressures of about 1,000 bar or about 15,000 psi.\r\n \tIt, then, supplies the pressurised fuel via a high-pressure pipe to the inlet of the fuel-rail.\r\n \tFrom there, the fuel-rail distributes it to the individual injectors which then inject it into the cylinder's combustion chamber.\r\n\r\nAdvantages &amp; Disadvantages of CRDi\u00a0\r\nAdvantages\r\nCRDi engines are advantageous in many ways. Cars fitted with this new engine technology are believed to deliver 25% more power and torque than the normal direct injection engine. It also offers superior pick up, lower levels of noise and vibration, higher mileage, lower emissions, lower fuel consumption, and improved performance.\r\nIn India, diesel is cheaper than petrol and this fact adds to the credibility of the common rail direct injection system.\r\nDisadvantages\r\nLike all good things have a negative side, this engine also have few disadvantages. The key disadvantage of the CRDi engine is that it is costly than the conventional engine. The list also includes high degree of engine maintenance and costly spare parts. Also this technology can\u2019t be employed to ordinary engines.\r\nApplications\r\nThe most common applications of common rail engines are marine and locomotive applications. Also, in the present day they are widely used in a variety of car models ranging from city cars to premium executive cars.\r\nSome of the Indian car manufacturers who have widely accepted the use of common rail diesel engine in their respective car models are the Hyundai Motors, Maruti Suzuki, Fiat, General Motors, Honda Motors, and the Skoda. In the list of luxury car manufacturers, the Mercedes-Benz and BMW have also adopted this advanced engine technology. The purpose of this test is to validate FLUENT's ability to predict reflecting shock waves and their effect on wall pressure distribution and heat transfer. Supersonic flow from a nozzle that represents the exhaust nozzle of a supersonic combustion ramjet (SCRAMJET) is modeled. Jet from the nozzle is issued into a domain which is bounded on one side by an afterbody wall which is parallel to the centerline of the nozzle. Shocks propagating from the nozzle exit reflect from the afterbody. Measured values of the distribution of wall pressure and heat transfer rate along the afterbody are used to validate the CFD simulation.\r\nIn this study, k-\u03b5 model has been used to examine supersonic flow in a model scramjet exhaust. The configuration used is similar to the DLR (German Aerospace Center) scramjet model and it is consists of a one-sided divergent channel with wedge-shaped and without wedge shaped. For the purpose of validation, the k-\u03b5 results are compared with experimental data for temperature at the bottom wall. In addition, qualitative comparisons are also made between predicted and measured shadowgraph images. Scramjet is an acronym for Supersonic combustion ramjet. A ramjet has no moving parts. Air entering the intake is compressed using the forward speed of the aircraft. The intake air is then slowed from a high subsonic or supersonic speed to a low subsonic speed by aerodynamic diffusion created by the inlet and diffuser. Fuel is then injected into the combustion chamber where burning takes place. The expansion of hot gases then accelerates the subsonic exhaust air to a supersonic speed. This results in a forward velocity. Scramjets on the other hand do not slow the free stream air down through the combustion chamber rather keeping it at some supersonic speed. This may appear mechanically simple however it is immensely more aerodynamically complex than a jet engine.\r\nKeeping the free stream flow supersonic enables the scramjet to fly at much higher speeds. Supersonic flow is needed at higher speeds to maximize efficiency through the combustion process. Scramjet top speeds have been estimated between Mach 15 to Mach 24, however at this early stage Mach 9.6 is the fastest recorded flight achieved during the\u00a0third and final flight of the X-43A flown by NASA. The present project relates to two wheeler stands, and relates more particularly to an automatic two wheeler stand which uses collapsible mechanical linkages and actuating force (hydraulic\/pneumatic\/electric) which will push open the legs of stand and help in mounting the vehicle for parking and repairing. It will be controlled and operated using solenoid valves and control valves. Two wheelers are used by most of the people around the globe. We observed that it is quite difficult and cumbersome to park it on main stand. It becomes necessary to park the vehicle on its main stand. Applying the best possible method we would try to make an automatic main stand\r\n\r\nDesign and proposed model of pneumatic side stand\r\n\r\nCONCLUSION\r\nIn this paper we have presented the physical model of automatic main stand for two wheelers. Detail design and analysis have been done for automatic main stand for two wheelers. Analysis is based on the pressure calculation, calculation for bending stresses and calculation for tensile stresses on bolt. We have also calculated number of repetition of operation. We have been made an attempt to calculate the pressure required for operating the main stand i. e. 5 bars.
