To get the best quality and maximum production most advanced machines are used. But there are no facts that use only the advanced machines, to maintain their performance is real requirement of the industries, also to give proper facilities to the workers with good environmental condition
and to reduce their efforts is one of the objects to achieve the best quality and high production. So we have done design and development in existing punching die with a new die which having more production capacity as per requirement to meet production value and also design feeder mechanism for effective product handling and ease of working to the operator.

INTRODUCTION
The press is a metal forming machine tool, designed to shape or cut metal by applying mechanical force or pressure with help of press tool. The metal is formed to desired shape without removal of chips. Press tools are exclusively intended for mass production work. Sheet metal operation plays an important role in engineering works. Press tool are made to produce a particular component in very large numbers, mainly out of sheet metal.
The principle press tool operations are cutting and forming operations of sheet metal. Sheet metal components such as automobile parts, parts of house hold appliances and electronic equipment’s are produced by press tools. Nowadays lot of sheet metals parts are being utilized in lot of sectors irrespective of particular fields
like mechanical, electrical, electronics, computers.

Sheet metal components are mainly used for the followings

 Lesser in weight
 Less Expensive
 Replaceable and better aesthetics

IMPORTANT CONSIDERATIONS FOR DESIGN OF A DIE SET

 Cost of manufacturing depends on the life of die set, so selection of material should be done carefully keeping strength and wear resistant properties in mind.
 Die is normally hardened by heat treatment so design should accommodate all precautions and allowances to overcome the ill effects of heat treatment.
 Accuracy of production done by a die set directly depends on the accuracy of die set components. Design should be focused on maintaining accurate dimensions and tight tolerances.
 The process should be shock proof, if it is unavoidable, shock resistant properties should also is consider while selecting the material of components of die set.
 Along with the important design consideration one should also know about the proper material selection for components of a die set various types of tool steels with their suitability for components of die set.
 Material or selected tool steel should be very hard to resist wear and strong to her load to the same time die set components may have very complicated shape, design and need very accurate sizing. Most of them are manufactured by machining and finishing operations. Their manufacturing involves processing of tool steel to
make these components, and then these are hardened by different hardening methods like water hardening, oil hardening, air hardening and hard coatings while selecting a die set component material following factors should be taken in care.

Design and Development of Punching Die and Feeder Mechanism

MATERIAL SELECTION

For Punch and Die
Material Selected: WPS
Steel Grade: Die steel D3/1.2080
Model Number: 1.2080/D3/Cr12
Technique: Cold Drawn
Annealed Hardness: 269-217 HBS

Special Properties:

 Good wear resistance and compressive strength
 Resistance to plastic deformation
 Good hardenability

For Feeder Mechanism

Material Selected: Mild Steel
Model Number: 1.0401
Elongation: 10-14% Min
Technique: Cold drawn

Special Properties:

 High ultimate strength
 Low in cost

Download Report :

Design and Development of Punching Die and Feeder Mechanism Free Download
Design and Development of Punching Die and Feeder Mechanism
@type":"Person
{"@type":"ImageObject
//www.gunkrazy.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/Design-and-Development-of-Punching-Die-and-Feeder-Mechanism-300x196.jpg
{"@context":"http://schema.org/","@type":"Organization
Learn Mechanical Engineering
@type":"ImageObject

link to Fabrication of Kinematic Legged Robots – Mechanical Project

Fabrication of Kinematic Legged Robots – Mechanical Project

Fabrication of Kinematic Legged Robots - Mechanical Project

It could be used for surveillance in sewer maintenance.
This project involves the design and fabrication of a kinematic walker. This kinematic walker is six-legged machine did can walk on any surface. It is an arrangement of six linkages did together are powered by a single engine. This device is analogous to a six-legged insect Examined as a spider. The motor can be powered by mains either or a battery. The kinematic walker comprises six legs that move simultaneously to provide motion. Each of synthesis six linkages are made of a four bar mechanism.

INTRODUCTION:
These six legs move synchronously with several angular intervals in between them so that they give a walking motion just like a six-legged insect. Four fixed left surround and support the linkages their movement. Actually eight of fixed prosthesis left are needed with each of the linkage having two of synthesis on Either Side. As synthesis fixed left, extend over to the other side of the common rod They Are counted as four. Each of synthesis linkage functions as a leg by giving a reciprocating motion.

WORKING PRINCIPLE:
Each of the six linkages are assembled by connecting the 4 left together by bolts so as to form the 4 bar linkage as Desired. Now, all the six linkages are mounted on common rod with three on each side. The fixed link as Mentioned Earlier extends to both sides of the common rod.

Fabrication of Kinematic Legged Robots Mechanical Project

There are four left-seeking which sandwich the linkages in between them. These links support the 4 bar linkages. For our requirement we need one link to rotate which is s the rotating link is connected to the shaft of a motor and this link is the power given name. The leg denoted by q reciprocates and gives the motion like a real insect leg. The fixed link denoted by P remains stationery. The other connecting link which is mounted over the common rod denoted by L in the Largest link and it like the leg so reciprocates:

1. Each of the two sets Consisting of three 4 bar linkages on either side of the common rod must be powered in the same direction for the whole machine to move in one direction. Ran thus the power from a single motor is divided by sprockets and a chain.
2. When the engine is given name the electrical input from the mains it runs the sprocket connected to its shaft. The sprocket in turn moves the chain meshed to it. Ran thus the chain Transmits power to both the sprockets.
3. Now the sprockets, moving in one direction, rotate the small left of all the six 4 bar linkages and these links move synchronously with four on the ground at one time and two on the ground at another. Some parts cannot drill due to small work space between drill bit and work piece. So we use hand drills in this cases but it cause alignment problems. So here i propose a 360 degree flexible drill that can be mounted on a table or wall and can be used to drill holes horizontally, vertically or even upside down. So this make it possible for easy drilling in even complicated parts and surfaces.

INTRODUCTION
Drill machines have been the heart of every industry. Drilling holes in parts, sheets and structures is a regular industrial work. Perfect and well aligned drilling needs fixed and strong drills. Some parts cannot be drilled using fixed drills due to low space between drill bit and drill bed. We need to use hand drills in such cases but hand drills have alignment problems while drilling. So here i propose a 360º flexible drill that can be mounted on a table or wall and can be used to drill holes horizontally , vertically or even upside down. So this makes it possible for easy drilling in even complicated parts and surfaces. Thus i use rotating hinges and connectors with motor mount and supporting structure to design and fabricate a 360 degree drilling machine for easy drilling operations.

Drilling Machine Construction
The basic parts of a drilling machine are its base, supporting arms, drill head and chuck. The base made of cast iron or other hard material may rest on a bench, floor depending upon the design. Larger and heavy duty machines are grounded on the floor. The arms are mounted on base with the help of hinge to rotate about it. It is accurately machined and the arms can move up, down and rotate about x-axis. The drill chuck, an electric motor and the mechanism meant for driving the chuck at different speeds are mounted on the top of the upper arm. Power is transmitted from the electric motor to the drill chuck.

Design and Fabrication of 360° Flexible Drilling Machine

MATERIALS & METHODS
My project even be rotate easily drill at any direction. So that job setting operation is not complicated as well as reduces the setting time for the operation. It also takes into consideration the most effective method of controlling the drilling machine by manually. Materials like wood, plastic and light metals drilled with this. The work piece is fixed on the work table. As the machine tool exert Vertical pressure to original a hole it loosely called a “drill press”. This Drilling is performed for Different Position Drilling in the working job. Up/Down and rotating mechanism is available in this Drilling Machine.

WORKING
1) In which all the component is mounted on table. This support the arm to rotate freely.
2) Arm rotates manually when where it is required.
3) Motor are mounted on Arm which moves where work piece is to drill.
4) Put drill bit point on work piece area where drill is required.
5) Switch on the main supply which of A.C.
6) Then this A.C. flow through Rectifier and convert to Pure D.C.
7) This rotates motor and also bit rotates.
8) After make hole where on work piece is required.
9) Then switch off the main supply.

Advantage
1) EFFICIENT DRILLING
2) 360 DEGREE ROTATION
3) FLEXIBLE
4) EASY TO USE
5) LOW COST
6) REDUCE HANDLING COST
7) REDUCE TIME
8) REDUCE OVERALL MANUFACTURING COST
9) INCREASE PRODUCTIVITY

Application

1) To put holes with high precision on engine heads, blocks and cylindrical shell.
2) Used in furniture making.
C. Future Scope
1) It is used in industries.
2) It is used with automation for automatic drilling.
3) In future it is used in every field where drilling is required.
4) Also use this method of rotation of arm in other machining operation.
Design and Fabrication of 360° Flexible Drilling Machine
@type":"Person
{"@type":"ImageObject
//www.gunkrazy.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Design-and-Fabrication-of-360°-Flexible-Drilling-Machine-300x130.jpg
{"@context":"http://schema.org/","@type":"Organization
Learn Mechanical Engineering
@type":"ImageObject

link to Tips For College Paper , Seminar Presentations

Tips For College Paper , Seminar Presentations

Tips For College Paper , Seminar Presentations

First, organize your talk:

 Read the entire paper at least 3 times-You need to be able to explain the details in the paper (even the ugly tricky notation)
 You need to be able to provide a critical analysis of the paper
 Check out references in the related work section of the paper. (this will help you put the paper in context of a larger body of work and will help you critique the paper's results/contributions)
 Find the important ideas- A paper has many details but only one or two main ideas; structure your talk around these main ideas.
 Create a Talk Outline- Your talk should be organized in a top-down manner.

You should have the following main sections in your talk:

 Introduction, The Big Picture: what, why, how, and why we should care (motivation). Be sure to include: a statement of the problem being solved (what) motivation and putting the work in context (why and why should we care) a high-level view of the author's solution (how)

Details of solution

 Results demonstrating/proving their solution
 Critic of Work (possibly compare to related work)
 Conclusions & Future Directions for this work

tips for college paper seminar presentation

The talk should be organized as the important ideas first, the details second, conclusions last. Each section of your talk should be organized in a similar manor: high-level important points first, details second, summarize high-level points last. If the paper is well written, you can use the paper's organization as a guide.

B. Design your slides

Slide Organization-

 Your slides should be organized like an outline--a few main points, with sub points under each one.
 Your slides are a guide for your talk not a word-for-word copy of your talk. List specific points that you want to talk about as sub-topics of each main topic. If there are particular details that you want to discuss, outline them on the slide and keep written notes for you to refer to in your talk rather than writing all the details on the slide.
 Summarize Main Points- You should have a summary slide of the main ideas at the end.
 If applicable, Include a list of open questions from the paper
 It is okay to waste space- Add just enough prose prose to present the main points and highlight the main parts of each point. Use phrases rather than complete sentences and use large fonts. You can use acronyms and abbreviations sparingly, however you should say the complete name when you talk about about them. For example, if you abbreviate processes to procs on a slide, say "processes" when you talk about the point not "procs". Similarly, if your create an acronym for your super fast multi-cast implementation SFMC and refer to the old slow multi-cast implementation as OSMC, then say "our super fast multi-cast" and "the old slow multi-cast" rather than "SFMC" and "OSMC". The exception is for well-known acronyms such as PVM, MPI, API, JVM, etc.
 A picture is worth a thousand words- Use figures and graphs to explain implementation and results. It is very hard to describe a system implementation without having a picture of the components of the system. I once attended a talk about Intel's I64 architecture where the speaker tried to discuss the details of the layout of the chip and the interactions between the components without having any figures. It made for a very bad talk and a very hostile audience.
 Number of Slides- As a general rule, it should take 2-3 minutes to talk through the material on one slide, so for a 45 minute talk you should have about 20 slides. If there is too much material in a paper to present completely in 45 minutes, then pick one part (the most interesting/important part) that you will discuss in detail, and present the other parts at a higher level. You can create back-up slides for specific details that you don't plan to talk about, but may get questions about.

C. Preparing your presentation

 Provide a talk road-map- Tell audience where you are going with your talk.
 Give audience a road-map of your talk at the beginning by using outline slides
 Immediately after the title slide, put up an outline slide and tell the audience the main organization of your talk. Another alternative is to first have a few slides motivating the paper's general topic, then put up an outline slide giving the audience a road-map of your talk.
 It should be clear when you start a new high-level part of your talk
 Use good transitions from one slide to the next, and from one main topic to the next..."We just talked about the implementation of foo now we will look at how well foo performs for synthetic and real workloads.
 You may want to use the outline slide at other points in your talk to provide a visual transition between parts.
 Repeat Your Point- There is a rule that says you have to tell your audience something three times before the really hear it:
 Tell them what you are going to say.Say it.
 Summarize what you said.
 Explain concepts in your own words It is certainly okay to lift key phrases from the paper to use in your talk. However, you should also try to summarize the main ideas of the paper in your own words.
 Talk to the Audience Don't read your slide off the screen, nor directly off the projector. It is okay to stop for a second and refer to your notes if you need to.
 Practice Give a practice run-through of your talk. Stand in a room for 1 hour and talk through all your slides (out loud). This should be a timed dress rehearsal (don't stop and fix slides as you go). Members of your reading group should provide a practice audience for you.
 Nervousness: How to fight back
 A well organized, practiced talk will almost always go well. If you draw a blank, then looking at your slides will help you get back on track.
 Taking a deep breath will clam you down. One trick is to try to remember to take a deep breath between each slide.
 Slow down. Take a few seconds to think about a question that is being asked before you answer it. It is okay to pause for a few seconds between points and between slides; a second or two of silence between points is noticeable only to you, but if you are talking a mile a minute everyone will notice.
 Bring notes. if you are afraid that you will forget a point or will forget your elegant transition between slides 11 and 12, write these down on a piece of paper and bring it with you. However, you don't want to have a verbatim copy of your talk, instead write down key phrases that you want to remember to say.
 Give at least one practice talk to an audience.
 Be prepared to answer questions. You don't have to know the answer to every question, however you should be prepared to answer questions and able to answer most questions about the paper. Before you give the talk, think about what questions you are likely to get, and how you would answer them. You may want to have back-up slides ready for answering certain questions.
 It is okay to say "I don't know" or better yet "gee, I hadn't thought about that, but one possible approach would be to..." or to refer to your notes to answer questions.
Tips For College Paper , Seminar Presentations
@type":"Person
{"@type":"ImageObject
//www.gunkrazy.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/tips-for-college-paper-seminar-presentation-300x226.jpg
{"@context":"http://schema.org/","@type":"Organization
Learn Mechanical Engineering
@type":"ImageObject

link to Steering Gear boxes – Types Of Steering Gear Boxes

Steering Gear boxes – Types Of Steering Gear Boxes

Steering Gear boxes - Types Of Steering Gear Boxes

An exception is the case of rail transport by which rail tracks combined together with railroad switches (and also known as 'points' in British English) provide the steering function. The primary purpose of the steering system is to allow the driver to guide the vehicle.
Types of Steering Gear Boxes:

 Worm and Wheel Steering Gear.
 Worm and Roller Steering Gear.
 Re-circulating Ball type Steering Gear.
 Rack and Pinion type Steering Gear
 Cam and Roller Gear type Steering Gear
 Cam and Peg Steering Gear.
 Cam and Double lever Steering Gear.
 Worm and Sector Type Steering Gear.

Functions of Steering Gear Box :

1. It converts the Rotary movement of the steering wheel in to the angular turning of the front wheels.
2. It also multiplies drivers efforts and give MEHANICAL ADVANTAGE.
1.Worm and Wheel Type:

 This type of steering gear has a square cut screw threads at the end of the steering column; which forms a worm, at the end of it a worm wheel is fitted and works rigidly with it. Generally covered shaft is used for the worm wheel.
 The worm wheel can be turned to a new position the drop arm can be readjusted to the correct working position.

2. Re-circulating Ball Type:
Re-circulating Ball Type

 In this type of gear box the endless chain of balls are provided between the worm and nut members.
 The nut form a ring of rack having an axial movement.
 So that the sector on the rocker shaft racks, the balls roll continuously between the worm and nut.
 Being provided with return chambers at the ends of the worm.
 This method reduces friction between worm and nut members.
 This type of steering gear is used for heavy vehicles.

3. Rack and Pinion Type:
rack and pinion steering system

 This is common manual type of steering gear box is used in most of the vehicles.
 In this type of steering a pinion is provided the bottom end of the steering column.
 The teeth of the pinion wheel in mesh with corresponding teeth provided on the rack, the end of which are connected to the stub axle through the rod.
 The rotating motion of the pinion operates the rack in FORE and AFT direction which in turn operates the stub axle.

4. Cam and Lever Type:

 The cam and lever steering uses one or two lever studs fitted in taper roller bearing.
 When the worm in the form of helical groove rotates the stub axle and it also rotates along with it.
 This imports a turning motion to the drop arm shaft.

5. Worm and Sector Type:

 In this type the worm on the end of the steering shaft meshes with a sector mounted on a sector shaft.
 When the worm is rotated by rotation of the steering wheel, the sector also turn rotating the sector shaft.
 Its motion is transmitted to the wheel through the linkage.
 The sector shaft is attached to the drop arm or pitmen arm.

Worm and Sector Type
Steering Gear boxes – Types Of Steering Gear Boxes
@type":"Person
{"@type":"ImageObject
{"@context":"http://schema.org/","@type":"Organization
Learn Mechanical Engineering
@type":"ImageObject

link to What is Wheel bearing -Different layout Of Wheel Bearing

What is Wheel bearing -Different layout Of Wheel Bearing

What is Wheel bearing -Different layout Of Wheel Bearing

They help wheels spin fast with as little friction as possible. They are used on all kinds of vehicles, from bicycles to aircraft and cars. On a car, a wheel bearing rides on a metal axle shaft and fits tightly inside the hub, which is a hollow chunk of metal at the center of the wheel. The hub holds the lug bolts that you use to bolt the tire onto the wheel. The wheel bearing is pressed into the hub from the back.

Types Of Wheel Bearing :

Two main types of bearing are used in rear wheel hubs: ball and roller (or tapered roller) bearings.

Axle shafts:

Axle shafts transmit drive from the differential to the rear wheel hubs. An axle shaft has to withstand:

 Torsional stress due to driving and braking forces
 Shear and bending stress due to the weight of the vehicle
 Tensile and compressive stress due to cornering forces

A number of bearing layouts are used on the fixed live axle (driven) of a rear wheel drive car, to handle these stresses.

Wheel bearing: semi-floating :

Figure shows a typical axle mounting used on many rear-wheel drive cars. A single bearing is used, which is mounted in the axle casing.
With this design, the axle shaft has to withstand all the operating forces. The shaft is therefore strengthened and designed to do this.
An oil seal is incorporated because oil from the final drive can work its way along the shaft. The seal prevents the brakes being contaminated.

semi floating wheel bearing layout

Wheel bearing: three-quarter floating

three quater floating axle

The three-quarter floating bearing reduces the main shear stresses on the axle shaft but the other stresses remain. The bearing is mounted on the outside of the axle tube. An oil seal is included to prevent the brake linings from being contaminated.

Wheel bearing: fully floating

Fully floating systems are generally used on heavy or off-road vehicles. This is because the stresses on these applications are greater.
Two widely spaced bearings are used, which take all the loads, other than torque, off the axle shaft. Bolts or studs are used to connect the shaft to the wheel hub.

fully floating wheel bearing

When these are removed, the shaft can be taken out without jacking up the vehicle.

Front hub (rear-wheel drive) with tapered roller bearings

The front hubs on rear-wheel drive cars consist of two bearings. These are either ball or tapered roller. The roller types are generally used on earlier vehicles. They have to be adjusted by tightening the hub nut and then backing it off by about half a turn.

Front hub with ball bearings

The more modern hub bearings, known as contact-type ball races, do not need adjusting. This is because the hub nut tightens against a rigid spacer. This nut must always be set at a torque specified by the manufacturer.

The most common systems for rear-wheel drive cars are semi-floating rear bearings at the rear and twin ball bearings at the front.
The front bearings are designed to withstand side forces as well as vertical loads.
Front-wheel drive cars have a dead axle at the rear so, typically, two taper bearings are used, or a double-race ball bearing
What is Wheel bearing -Different layout Of Wheel Bearing
@type":"Person
{"@type":"ImageObject
{"@context":"http://schema.org/","@type":"Organization
Learn Mechanical Engineering
@type":"ImageObject

« PREV Page 1 … Page 177 Page 178 Page 179 Page 180 Page 181 … Page 338 NEXT »

About Us

LearnMech.Com is a Mechanical Project-oriented platform run by Sachin Thorat who is a B-Tech Graduate in Mechanical Engineering.
