It does not create heat or cool. It just removes heat from one area, where it is undesirable, to an area where it is less significant.

Central air conditions has a centralize duct system. The duct system (air distribution system) has an air handler, air supply system, air return duct and the grilles and register that circulates warm air from a furnace or cooled air from central air conditioning units to our room. It returns that air back to the system and starts again.

It uses Ac refrigerant (we may know it as Freon) as a substance to absorb the heat from indoor evaporator coils and rejects that heat to outdoor condenser coils or vice verse.

Read More : Types Of HVAC Systems and Their Advantages
Central Air Conditioning Components :
Central air conditioning systems are typically combined with the furnace system, if your home has one (or use a dedicated air handler if it doesn't), and both use the same electrical system and duct-work.

A central AC’s main components are:

 Fans that pull air through the system
 Evaporator coils that change refrigerant from liquid to gas
 A compressor that pressurizes refrigerant gas
 Condenser coils that turn refrigerant gas into a liquid
 Refrigerant lines that carry refrigerant between the coils
 An expansion device that regulates refrigerant flowing to the evaporator

Central Air Conditioning working Diagram :
central air conditioning Working Diagram
How Does an Air Conditioner Work?

 When a liquid turns into a gas or “evaporates” it absorbs heat. This is why pouring water over your skin makes you feel cooler in hot weather. Air conditioners use a chemical compound known as refrigerant that turns from liquid to gas at low temperatures. Refrigerant moves through the air conditioning system, absorbing heat from your house and transferring it outdoors in a continuous cycle.
 Cold refrigerant is pumped through the evaporator coil. A fan blows air over the coil, and the refrigerant in the coil absorbs heat from the air. The now-cool air is blown into your ducts to be distributed through your home. As the refrigerant absorbs heat, it evaporates into a low-pressure gas.
 Hot, low-pressure refrigerant gas moves to the compressor, which increases the pressure and temperature of the gas.
 Hot, high-pressure refrigerant gas moves to the condenser. The gas releases heat and, as it does so, it condenses back into a liquid.
 The liquid refrigerant flows to the expansion valve, which regulates how much refrigerant gets through to the evaporator. From here, the refrigerant flows to the evaporator to start the cooling cycle over again.

Types Of Central Air Conditioning :

Central air conditioning systems come in two basic designs: split and packaged.

 Split systems are the most commonly used type, and are split between an outdoor and an indoor unit, as the name suggests.
 In a packaged/ductless system, all the components are housed in one unit that is installed outside your home. Split and packaged systems both contain the same components and can provide the same amount of cooling, but there are some differences.

Benefits of Central Air Conditioning System

 Indoor comfort during warm weather – Central air conditioning helps keep your home cool and reduces humidity levels.
 Cleaner air – As your central air conditioning system draws air out of various rooms in the house through return air ducts, the air is pulled through an air filter, which removes airborne particles such as dust and lint. Sophisticated filters may remove microscopic pollutants, as well. The filtered air is then routed to air supply duct-work that carries it back to rooms.
 Quieter operation – Because the compressor-bearing unit is located outside the home, the indoor noise level from its operation is much lower than that of a free-standing air conditioning
how does a central air conditioning system work
@type":"Person
{"@type":"ImageObject
{"@context":"http://schema.org/","@type":"Organization
Learn Mechanical Engineering
@type":"ImageObject

link to Milling Process – Definition , Milling Manufacturing Processes

Milling Process – Definition , Milling Manufacturing Processes

Milling Process - Definition , Milling Manufacturing Processes

With the help of the milling machines one can perform many operations and functions starting from small objects to large ones.

Milling machining is one of the very common manufacturing processes used in machinery shops and industries to manufacture high precision products and parts in different shapes and sizes.
Introduction to Milling :
Milling machine is one of the important machining operations. In this operation the workpiece is fed against a rotating cylindrical tool. The rotating tool consists of multiple cutting edges (multipoint cutting tool). Normally axis of rotation of feed given to the workpiece. Milling operation is distinguished from other machining operations on the basis of orientation between the tool axis and the feed direction, however, in other operations like drilling, turning, etc. the tool is fed in the direction parallel to axis of rotation.

The cutting tool used in milling operation is called milling cutter, which consists of multiple edges called teeth. The machine tool that performs the milling operations by producing required relative motion between workpiece and tool is called milling machine. It provides the required relative motion under very controlled conditions. These conditions will be discussed later in this unit as milling speed, feed rate and depth of cut.

Normally, the milling operation creates plane surfaces. Other geometries can also be created by milling machine. Milling operation is considered an interrupted cutting operation teeth of milling cutter enter and exit the work during each revolution. This interrupted cutting action subjects the teeth to a cycle of impact force and thermal shock on every rotation. The tool material and cutter geometry must be designed to bear the above stated conditions. Depending upon the positioning of the tool and workpiece the milling operation can be classified into different types.

Read More : Working Principle Of Milling | Classification Of Milling Machine
Milling Process
The milling machine involves the following processes or phases of cutting:

Milling Cutters
There are a lot of cutting tools used in the milling process. The milling cutters named end mills have special cutting surfaces on their end surfaces so that they can be placed onto the work piece by drilling. These also have extended cutting surfaces on each side for the purpose of peripheral milling. The milling cutters have small cutters at the end corners. The cutters are made from highly resistant materials that are durable and produce less friction.

Surface Finish
Any material put through the cutting area of the milling machine gets regular intervals. The side cutters have got regular ridges on them. The distance between the ridges depends on the feed rate, the diameter of the cutter and the quantity of cutting surfaces. These can be the significant variations in the height of the surfaces.

Gang Milling
This means that more than two milling cutters are involved in a setup like the horizontal milling. All the cutters perform a uniform operation or it may also be possible that the cutter may perform distinct operations. This is an important operation for producing duplicate parts.

Milling is a metal removal process by means of using a rotating cutter having one or more cutting teeth as illustrated in figure
Cutting action is carried out by feeding the workpiece against the rotating cutter. Thus, the spindle speed, the table feed, the depth of cut, and the rotating direction of the cutter become the main parameters of the process. Good results can only be achieved with a well balanced settings of these parameters.

milling process
Milling Process cutting Parameter :
There are three major cutting parameters to be controlled in any milling operation. These three parameters are cutting, speed, feed rate and depth of cut. These parameters are described below.

Cutting Speed
Cutting speed of a milling cutter is its peripheral linear speed resulting from operation. It is expressed in meters per minute. The cutting speed can be derived
from the above formula.

V = πDN /1000

where,

d = Diameter of milling cutter in mm,
V = Cutting speed (linear) in meter per minute, and
n = Cutter speed in revolution per minute.

Spindle speed of a milling machine is selected to give the desired peripheral speed of cutter.

Feed Rate
It is the rate with which the workpiece under process advances under the revolving milling cutter. It is known that revolving cutter remains stationary and feed is
given to the workpiece through worktable. Generally feed is expressed in three ways.

Feed per Tooth
It is the distance traveled by the workpiece (its advance) between engagement by the two successive teeth. It is expressed as mm/tooth (ft).

Feed per Revolution
Travel of workpiece during one revolution of milling cutter. It is expressed as mm/rev. and denoted by f(rev).

Feed per Unit of Time
Feed can also be expressed as feed/minute or feed/sec. It is the distance advances by the workpiece in unit time (fm).

Above described three feed rates are mutually convertible.
(fm). = n x f(rev).
where n = rpm of cutter.

It can be extended further as
(fm). = n x f(rev). = z x n x f(rev)

where z = Number of teeth in milling cutter.

Read More About Milling Cutter : Types Of Milling Cutters used For Various Milling Operation

Depth of Cut
Depth of cut in milling operation is the measure of penetration of cutter into the workpiece. It is thickness of the material removed in one pairs of cutter under
process. One pairs of cutter means when cutter completes the milling operation from one end of the workpiece to another end. In other words, it is the
perpendicular distance measured between the original and final surface of workpiece. It is measured in mm.
Milling Operations
Owing to the variety of shapes possible and its high production rates, milling is one of the most versatile and widely used machining operations. The geometric form created by milling fall into three major groups:

 Plane surfaces: the surface is linear in all three dimensions. The simplest and most convenient type of surface;
 Two-dimensional surfaces: the shape of the surface changes in the direction of two of the axes and is linear along the third axis. Examples include cams;
 Three-dimensional surfaces: the shape of the surface changes in all three directions Examples include die cavities, gas turbine blades, propellers, casting patterns, etc.
Milling Process – Definition , Milling Manufacturing Processes
@type":"Person
{"@type":"ImageObject
{"@context":"http://schema.org/","@type":"Organization
Learn Mechanical Engineering
@type":"ImageObject

link to Types Of Fluid Flow in a Pipe- Basic Of fluid Mechanics

Types Of Fluid Flow in a Pipe- Basic Of fluid Mechanics

Types Of Fluid Flow in a Pipe- Basic Of fluid Mechanics Types of Flows in a Pipe - The type of flow of a liquid depends upon the manner in which the particles unite and move. Connection is usually made either by a ground glass joint or a flanged metal connector, sealed with an o-ring. The filament is connected to an electrical circuit from
which, after calibration, a pressure reading may be taken.
A conducting wire (platinum filament) gets heated when electric current flows through it. This wire suspended in a gas will lose heat to the gas as its molecules collide with the wire and remove heat. As the gas pressure is reduced (by the vacuum pumps) the number of molecules present will fall proportionately, the conductivity of the surrounding media will fall and the wire will lose heat more slowly. Measuring the heat loss is an indirect indication of pressure.

pirani vacuum gauges

The electrical resistance of the wire varies with its temperature, so the measurement of resistance also indicates the temperature of wire. Now the change in resistance of the filament is determined using the bridge. This change in resistance of the pirani gauge filament becomes a measure of the applied pressure
when calibrated.

In many systems, the wire is maintained at a constant resistance R by controlling the current I through the wire. The resistance can be set using a bridge circuit. The power delivered to the wire is I2R, and the same power is transferred to the gas. The current required to achieve this balance is therefore a measure of the
vacuum.
The gauge may be used for pressures between 0.5 Torr to 10−3 Torr. The thermal conductivity and heat capacity of the gas may affect the readout from the meter, and therefore the apparatus may need calibrating before accurate readings are obtainable. For lower pressure measurement other instruments such as a Penning gauge are used.

Applications of Pirani gauge
Used to measure low vacuum and ultra high vacuum pressures.

Advantages of Pirani gauge

 They are rugged and inexpensive
 Give accurate results
 Good response to pressure changes.
 Relation between pressure and resistance is linear for the range of use.
 Readings can be taken from a distance.

Limitations of Pirani gauge

 Pirani gauge must be checked frequently.
 Pirani gauge must be calibrated from different gases.
 Electric power is a must for its operation.
What is Pirani gauge – Working ,Application , Advantages
@type":"Person
{"@type":"ImageObject
{"@context":"http://schema.org/","@type":"Organization
Learn Mechanical Engineering
@type":"ImageObject

link to Die Casting – Types , Steps in Pressure die Casting Process

Die Casting – Types , Steps in Pressure die Casting Process

Die Casting - Types , Steps in Pressure die Casting Process

It is also called pressure die casting. The split mould used under this type of casting is reusable.

Types Of Die Casting :

Die casting is categorized two types namely-

 Hot chamber Die Casting Process and Cold chamber Die Casting Process

Metals like Zinc, tin and lead alloys are casted in hot chamber die casting having melting point below 3900C whereas aluminum alloys are casted in cold chamber
die casting machine. Aluminum dissolves ferrous parts in the die chamber and hence preferred to be used in cold chamber die casting. Continuous contact of molten metal is avoided by using a ladle for introducing molten metal directly to the machine.

The Hot-Chamber Die Casting Process
Hot-chamber die casting, sometimes called gooseneck casting, is the more popular of the two die casting processes. In this process, the cylinder chamber of the injection mechanism is completely immersed in the molten metal bath. A gooseneck metal feed system draws the molten metal into the die cavity.

While direct immersion in the molten bath allows for quick and convenient mold injection, it also results in increased corrosion susceptibility. Due to this fact, the hot-chamber die casting process is best suited for applications that utilize metals with low melting points and high fluidity. Good metals for the hot-chamber die casting process include lead, magnesium, zinc and copper.

The Cold-Chamber Die Casting Process
The cold-chamber die casting process is very similar to hot-chamber die casting. With a design that focuses on minimizing machine corrosion rather than production efficiency, the melted metal is automatically- or hand-ladled into the injection system. This eliminates the necessity for the injection mechanism to be immersed in the molten metal bath.

For applications that are too corrosive for the immersion design of hot-chamber die casting, the cold-chamber process can be an excellent alternative. These applications include the casting of metals with high melting temperatures, such as aluminum and aluminum alloys.
Steps in Hot chamber Die Casting Process / Steps In Cold Chamber Die Casting Process
steps in hot chamber die casting and steps in cold chamber die casting

Apart from these two, there are also several other variations of die casting process, such as:

Low Pressure Die Casting – Vehicle wheels and other Aluminum components are fabricated using this process. The removal of the feeders from the process ensures high casting yields.

Vacuum Die Casting – Applications that have post casting heat treatment uses are made through this process. The advantages of this process include reduced turbulence and limited gas inclusions. Vacuum die casting also ensures enhanced strength and low porosity to the material.

Squeeze Die Casting – This process is mostly used for the strengthening of fiber, and it is mostly related to molten Aluminum. It allows for casting metals and allows much lower fluidity.

Semi-Solid Die Casting – It provides minimum porosity and maximum density into the casted material. Also called Thixo-forming, this process gives an added advantage of better precision; it is most commonly used for non-ferrous metals such as Magnesium and Aluminum alloys.

Read More : Types Of Casting Processes and their Applications
Advantages of the die casting process
1. High production rate.
2. High accuracy in part dimensions.
3. Smooth surface finish for minimum mechanical finishing.
4. Ability to make many intricate parts such as hole opening slot trademark number etc.
5. Much thinner wall sections can be produced which can’t be produced by other casting
methods.
6. Varieties of alloys can be used as per design requirements. For example zinc can be used for intricate forms and plasticity, aluminum for higher structural strength, rigidity and light weight.
7. Ability to cast inserts such as pins studs shafts, fasteners etc.
Disadvantages of the die casting process
1. Microporosityinthe die casting products is a common problem because of faster solidification, trapped air and vaporized die lubricants.
2. Undercuts cannot be found in simple two piece dies.
3. Hollow shapes are not readily casted because of the high metal pressure.
4. Limited sizes of the products can be produced based on the availability of the equipment
5. High melting temperature alloys are practically not die casted
6. Flash is present except for very small zinc die casting.
Die Casting – Types , Steps in Pressure die Casting Process
@type":"Person
{"@type":"ImageObject
//www.gunkrazy.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/steps-in-hot-chamber-die-casting-and-steps-in-cold-chamber-die-casting-300x280.jpg
{"@context":"http://schema.org/","@type":"Organization
Learn Mechanical Engineering
@type":"ImageObject

link to Diaphragm pressure gauge – Diagram , Application ,Advantages

Diaphragm pressure gauge – Diagram , Application ,Advantages

Diaphragm pressure gauge - Diagram , Application ,Advantages
