Pulleys:-\r\n\r\nA pulley is a wheel on an axle that is designed to support movement and change of direction of a cable or belt along its circumference. Pulleys are used in a variety of ways to lift loads, apply forces, and to transmit power. A pulley is also called a sheave or drum and may have a groove between two flanges around its circumference. The drive element of a pulley system can be a rope, cable, belt, or chain that runs over the pulley inside the groove.\r\n\r\n3. Vertical column:-\r\n\r\nThis is mounted on the pallet\/base plate\/truck in longitudinal or Y-direction. It consists of a short handle which is welded to the vertical column for 360\u25e6 rotation of the column so that the load can be dropped at the required position. It consists of roller bearing at the base in the circumferential manner to reduce friction at the time of rotating the vertical column.\r\n\r\n4. Thrust ball bearings: -\r\n\r\nBall bearings are called as \u2018anti friction bearings\u2019. This is a misnomer because friction is always present in such bearings, mainly owing to rolling resistance, between the balls or rollers and the race. It carries the vertical thrust and axial load.\r\n\r\n5. Horizontal arm: -\r\n\r\nIt is fixed horizontal arm on which our hydraulic piston and cylinder is mounted. It is fixed with the vertical column with welded joint which can rotate with the rotating vertical column to 360\u00b0 rotation.\r\n\r\n6. Hook:\r\n\r\nHook is fixed with the cable moving on pulleys. Hook is used for attaching the load to horizontal arm which moves up and down due which the connected loads are lifted and rotates.\r\n\r\n7. Nuts and Bolts:\r\n\r\nNuts and bolts are the hardware fasteners which are used to fasten the various different parts .in our project we have used around 20 nut and bolts.\r\n\r\n9. Hydraulic jack: -\r\n\r\nA hydraulic jack is a jack that uses a liquid to push against a piston. This is based on Pascal\u2019s Principle. The principle states that pressure in a closed container is the same at all points. If there are two cylinders connected, applying force to the smaller cylinder will result in the same amount of pressure in the larger cylinder. However, since the larger cylinder has more area, the resulting force will be greater. In other words, an increase in area leads to an increase in force. The greater the difference in size between the two cylinders, the greater the increase in the force will be. A hydraulic jack operates based on this two cylinder system.\r\n\r\nApplication of Cranes\r\n\r\nCranes exist in an enormous variety of forms \u2013 each tailored to a specific use. Sometimes sizes range from the smallest jib cranes, used inside workshops, to the tallest tower cranes, used for constructing high buildings. For a while, mini - cranes are also used for constructing high buildings, in order to facilitate constructions by reaching tight spaces. Extremely stable in use:-\r\n\r\nBecause the hydraulic cranes use a fixed system of pipes, constant pressure can be maintained once a part of the system has been moved into place, and this makes them extremely stable in use, and able to support relatively large weights.\r\n\r\n3. Very easy to maintain:-\r\n\r\nHydraulic cranes are amongst the simplest systems that you can use within any industrial process, and are very easy to maintain. Provided that all the pumps and pistons are regularly checked for any leaks, and potential stress points where the levers are supported are inspected for damage, the crane will continue to operate completely reliably for long periods of time\r\n\r\n4. A very versatile tool:-\r\n\r\nMost hydraulic cranes are comparatively light weight, and the ease with which they can be moved from one area to another within the factory or distribution center, makes them a very versatile tool with lots of uses on a day to day basis. From simple loading jobs in your loading bay area where the portable hydraulic cranes can be used to lift objects into a waiting truck to more complex jobs within the main factory, the lifts will come in very useful.\r\n\r\n5. Quite simple Design:-\r\n\r\nA hydraulic system works with a system of pumps and pistons that are filled with a liquid, usually a light oil or water. However in certain industrial application \u201cgearless transmission at right angle\u201d can also work at obtuse or accurate angle plane can be compared to worm and worm gear or bevel and pinion gear which are invariably used in the industry for numerous application. Except in some special purpose differentials, there are no other limitations on the rotational speeds of the shafts, apart from the usual mechanical\/engineering limits. Any of the shafts can be used to input rotation and the other to output it. A simple differential in which gears are equal.\r\n\r\nIn automobile and other wheeled vehicles, a differential is usual way to allow the driving road wheels to rotate at different speeds. This is necessary when the vehicle turns, making the wheel that is travelling around the outside of the turning curve roll farther and faster than the other. The engine is connected to the shafts rotating at angular velocity. The driving wheels are connected to the other two shafts, and p and q are equal. If the engine is running at a constant speed, the rotational speed of each driving wheel can vary, but the sum or average of two wheels speeds cannot change. An increase in the speed of one wheel must be balanced by an equal decrease in the speed of the other. With IRS the differential is bolted to the chassis and does not move with the suspension. The axles are connected to the differential and drive wheel CV or U-joints, Because the axles move with the suspension and the differential is bolted to the chassis, a common housing for these parts is impossible.\r\nOn most RWD cars, the final drive is located in the rear axle housing. On most FWD cars, the final drive is located within the transaxle. Some current FWD cars mount the engine and transaxle longitudinally. Theses configurations use a differential that is similar to the other FWD models. Some FWD cars have a longitudinally mounted engine fitted to a special transmission with a separate differential mounted to it.\r\nA differential is needed between any two drive wheels, whether in a RWD, FWD or 4WD vehicle. The two drive wheels must turn at different speeds when the vehicle is in a turn.\r\n\r\nFunctions and Components\r\n\r\nThe differential allows for different speeds at the drive wheels when a vehicle goes around c corner or any time there is a change of direction. When a car turns a corner, the outside wheels must travel farther and faster than the inside wheels. If the compensation is not made for this difference in speed and travel, the wheels would skid and slide, causing poor handling and excessive tire wear. Compensation for the variations in wheel speeds is made by the differential assembly. While allowing for their different speeds, the differential also must continue to transmit torque.\r\nThe differential of a RWD vehicle is normally housed with the drive axles in a large casting called the rear axle assembly. Power from the engine enters into the center of the rear axle assembly and is transmitted to the drive axles. The drive axles are supported by bearings and are attached to the wheels of the car. The power entering the rear axle assembly has its direction changed by the differential. This change of direction is accomplished through the hypoid gears used in the differential.\r\n\r\nConclusion\r\n\r\nA vehicle's wheels rotate at different speeds, mainly when turning corners. The differential is designed to drive a pair of wheels while allowing them to rotate at different speeds. In vehicles without a differential, such as karts, both driving wheels are forced to rotate at the same speed, usually on a common axle driven by a simple chain-drive mechanism. When cornering, the inner wheel needs to travel a shorter distance than the outer wheel, so with no differential, the result is the inner wheel spinning and\/or the outer wheel dragging, and this results in difficult and unpredictable handling, damage to tires and roads, and strain on or possible failure of the entire drive train. The purchasing procedure comprises the following steps as indicated in Fig.\r\n\r\npurchasing procedure\r\n\r\n 1. Recognition of the need: \r\n\r\nThe initiation of procedure starts with the recognition of the need by the needy section. The demand is lodged with the purchase department in the prescribed Purchase Requisition Form forwarded by the authorised person either directly or through the Stores Department. The purchase requisition clearly specifies the details, such as, specification of materials, quality and quantity, suggested supplier, etc. Generally, the low value sundries and items of common use are purchased for stock while costlier and special items are purchased according the production programmes. Generally, the corporate level executives are authorized signatories to such demands. Such purchases are approved by the Board of Directors. The reference of the approval is made on requisition and a copy of the requisition is sent to the secretary for the purpose of overall planning and budgeting.\r\n\r\n 2. The Selection of the supplier: \r\n\r\nThe process of selection of supplier involves two basic aspects: searching for all possible sources and short listing out of the identified sources. The complete information about the supplier is available from various sources, such as, trade directories, advertisement in trade journals, direct mailing by the suppliers, interview with suppliers, salesmen, suggestions from business associates, visit to trade fair, participation in industries convention, etc. Identification of more and more sources helps in selecting better and economical supplier. It should be noted that the low bidder is not always the best bidder. When everything except price is equal, the low bidder will be selected. The important considerations in the selection are the price, ability to supply the required quantity, maintenance of quality standards, financial standing etc. It should be noted that it is not necessary to go for this process for all types of purchases. For the repetitive orders and for the purchases of low-value, small lot items, generally the previous suppliers with good records are preferred.\r\n\r\n3. Placing the order: \r\n\r\nOnce the supplier is selected the next step is to place the purchase order. Purchase order is a letter sent to the supplier asking to supply the said material. At least six copies of purchase order are prepared by the purchase section and each copy is separately signed by the purchase officer. Out these copies, one copy each is sent to store-keeper, supplier, accounts section, inspection department and to the department placing the requisition and one copy is retained by the purchase department for record \r\n\r\n4. Follow-up of the order: \r\n\r\nFollow-up procedure should be employed wherever the costs and risks resulting from the delayed deliveries of materials are greater than the cost of follow-up procedure, the follow-up procedure tries to see that the purchase order is confirmed by the supplier and the delivery is promised. It is also necessary to review the outstanding orders at regular intervals and to communicate with the supplier in case of need. Generally, a routine urge is made to the supplier by sending a printed post card or a circular letter asking him to confirm that the delivery is on the way or will be made as per agreement. In absence of any reply or unsatisfactory reply, the supplier may be contact through personal letter, phone, telegram and\/or even personal visit. \r\n\r\n5. Receiving and inspection of the materials: \r\n\r\nThe receiving department receives the materials supplied by the vendor. The quantity are verified and tallied with the purchase order. The receipt of the materials is recorded on the specially designed receiving slips or forms which also specify the name of the vendor and the purchase order number. It also records any discrepancy, damaged condition of the consignment or inferiority of the materials. The purchase department is informed immediately about the receipt of the materials. Usually a copy of the receiving slip is sent to the purchase department. \r\n\r\n6. Payment of the invoice: \r\n\r\nWhen the goods are received in satisfactory condition, the invoice is checked before it is approved for the payment. The invoice is checked to see that the goods were duly authorised to purchase, they were properly ordered, they are priced as per the agreed terms, the quantity and quality confirm to the order, the calculations are arithmetically correct etc.\r\n\r\n7. Maintenance of the records: \r\n\r\nMaintenance of the records is an important part and parcel of the efficient purchase function. In the industrial firms, most of the purchases are repeat orders and hence the past records serve as a good guide for the future action. They are very useful for deciding the timings of the purchases and in selecting the best source of the supply. \r\n\r\n8. Maintenance of vendor relations: \r\n\r\nThe quantum and frequency of the transactions with the same key suppliers provide a platform for the purchase department to establish and maintain good relations with them. Good relations develop mutual trust and confidence in the course of the time which is beneficial to both the parties.
