The LPG is cheaper and possesses an environmental friendly nature with no ozone depletion potential (ODP). It is used in world for cooking purposes. The various methods of refrigeration on the basis of standard refrigerant discussed. He refrigerator used in the present study is of medium size with a gross capacity of 125 litre and is designed to work on LPG. The performance parameters investigated is the refrigeration effect in certain time. The refrigerator worked efficiently when LPG was used as refrigerant instead of CFC 12. The evaporator temperature reached -5 \u00baC with and an ambient temperature of 12 \u00baC. Also from the experiment which done in atmospheric condition, we can predict the optimum value of cooling effect with the suitable operating condition of regulating valve and capillary tube of the system. The results of the present work indicate the successful use of this propane-butane mixture\r\nas an alternative refrigerant to CFC 12 in domestic refrigerant.\r\nINTRODUCTION\r\nThe term \u2018refrigeration\u2019 in a broad sense is used for the process of removing heat (i.e. cooling) from a substance. It also includes the process of reducing and maintaining the temperature of a body below the general temperature of its surroundings. In other words, the refrigeration means a continued extraction of heat from a body, whose temperature is already below the temperature of its surroundings.\r\n\r\nFor example, if some space (say in cold storage) is to be kept at -2 \u00baC, we must continuously extract heat which flows into it due to leakage through the walls and also the heat, which is brought into it with the articles stored after the temperature is one reduced to -2 \u00baC. Thus in a refrigerator, heat is virtually being pumped from a lower temperature to a higher temperature. According to second law of thermodynamics, this process can only be performed with the aid of some external work. It is thus obvious, that supply of power (say electrical motor) is regularly required to drive a refrigerator. Theoretically, the refrigerator is a reversed heat engine, or a heat pump which pumps heat from cold body and delivers to a hot body.\r\nThe substance which works in a heat pump to extract heat from a cold body and to deliver it to a hot body is called refrigerant.\r\nTYPES OF DOMESTIC REFRIGERATOR\r\nThere are two types of domestic refrigerator.\r\n1. Single door fresh food refrigerator\r\n2. Double-door refrigerator-freezer\r\n\r\nMost domestic refrigerator are of two types \u2013 either a single door fresh food refrigerator or a two-door refrigerator-freezer combination, with the freezer compartment on the top portion of the cabinet, or a vertically split cabinet (side-byside), with the freezer compartment on the left side of the cabinet. They are completely self-contained units and are easy to install. Most refrigerators use R-22 refrigerant, normally maintaining temperatures of 0 \u00baF in the freezer compartment and about 35 \u00baF to 45 \u00baF in the refrigerator compartment.\r\nLPG REFRIGERATION\r\nIn India, more than 80% of the domestic refrigerator utilize HFC 134a as refrigerant, due to its excellent thermodynamic and thermo physical properties. But, HFC 134a has a high global warming potential (GWP) of 1300. There is a need of assess various refrigerant option considering the existing refrigerators in the field and for the future market.\r\n\r\nCFC\u2019s are principally destroyed by ultraviolet radiations in the stratosphere; the chlorine released in the high stratosphere catalyzes the decomposition of ozone to oxygen; and ultraviolet radiations penetrates to lower altitudes. Credible calculations of the magnitude of the effect (Hoffman 1987) and his team predicted 3% global ozone emissions of 700 thousand tonnes\/year after a hundred years. The ozone impact of car air conditioners also can not be ignored. Hydrofluorocarbons (HFC\u2019s) can be thought of as a replacement, but unfortunately the radiation properties of HFC\u2019s like R-134a make them powerful global warming agents. HFC 134a and the HC blend have been reported to be substitutes for CFC 12, but they have their own drawbacks in energy efficiency, flammability and serviceability aspects of the systems. HFC 134a is not miscible with mineral oil, and hence, polyol ester oil is recommended, which is highly hygroscopic in nature. This hygroscopicity demands stringent service practices, which otherwise results in moisture entry into the system.\r\nPROPERTIES\r\n\u00bb Colourless.\r\n\u00bb Odourless. (It\u2019s normal to odorise LPG by adding an odorant prior to supply to the user, to aid the detection of any leaks).\r\n\u00bb Flammable.\r\n\u00bb Heavier than air.\r\n\u00bb Approximately half the weight of water.\r\n\u00bb Non toxic but can cause asphyxiation.\r\n\u00bb LPG expands upon release and 1 litre of liquid will form approximately 250 litres of vapour.\r\n\r\nA good mixture :\r\n\r\nLPG is mainly Propane (C3H8), Butane (C4H10) or a mix of Propane\/Butane. Since LPG has such a simple chemical structure, it is among the cleanest of any alternative fuel.\r\n\r\nBoiling point :\r\n\r\nLPG\u2019s boiling point ranges from -42 \u00baC to 0 \u00baC depending on its mixture percentage of Butane and Propane.\r\n\r\nCombustion :\r\n\r\nThe combustion of LPG produces carbon dioxide (CO2) and water vapour but sufficient air must be available. Inadequate appliances flueing or ventilation can result in the production of carbon monoxide which can be toxic.\r\n\r\nVapour pressure :\r\n\r\nLPG is a stored as a liquid under pressure. It is almost colourless and its weight is approximately half that of an equivalent volume of water. The pressure inside a closed container in which LPG is stored is equal to the vapour pressure of the liquid and corresponds to its temperature.\r\n\r\nIgnition temperature :\r\n\r\nThe temperature required to ignite LPG in air is around 500 \u00baC.\r\n\r\nCalorific value :\r\n\r\nThe calorific value of LPG is about 2.5 times higher than that of main gas so more heat is produced from the same volume of gas.\r\n\r\nToxicity :\r\n\r\nLPG is a colourless, odourless and non-toxic gas. It is supplied commercially with an added odorant to assist detection by smell. LPG is an excellent solvent of petroleum and rubber product and is generally non-corrosive to steel and copper alloys.\r\nTHE LPG REFRIGERATION CYCLE\r\n(1). LPG Gas Cylinder:\r\n\r\nFrom the LPG gas cylinder, LPG flows through the pipe and reaches to the capillary tube. LPG gas pressure is approximate 80-100 psi.\r\n\r\n(2). Capillary Tube:\r\nAs the capillary tube, capillary tube downs the pressure up to less then 1 psi.\r\n\r\n(3). Evaporator:\r\nIn the evaporator LPG is converted into the vapour from with low pressure. After passing through the evaporator low pressure and temperature LPG vapour absorbs heat from the chamber system.\r\n\r\n(4). The metal is formed to desired shape without removal of chips.\r\n\r\nPress tools are exclusively intended for mass production work. Sheet metal operation plays an important role in engineering works. Press tool are made to produce a particular component in very large numbers, mainly out of sheet metal. The principle press tool operations are cutting and forming operations of sheet metal.\r\nSheet metal components such as automobile parts, parts of house hold appliances and electronic equipments are produced by press tools.\r\nNowadays lot of sheet metals parts are being utilised in lot of sectors irrespective of particular fields like mechanical, electrical, electronics, computers.\r\n\r\nSheet metal components are mainly used for the followings,\r\n\r\n \tLesser in weight\r\n \tLess Expensive\r\n \tReplaceable and better aesthetics\r\n\r\nPRESSES\r\n2.5.1 Mechanical Press\r\n\r\nThe ram is actuated using a flywheel. Stroke motion is not uniform.\r\n1. High forces at bottom of stroke\r\n2. Suited to blanking and punching\r\n\r\n2.5.2 Hydraulic Press\r\n\r\nLonger strokes than mechanical presses, and develop full force throughout the stroke.\r\nStroke motion is of uniform speed, especially adapted to deep drawing operations.\r\n1. Slower than mechanical drives\r\nDESIGN DRAWINGS\r\nCHILD PARTS AND FUNCTION\r\nThe blanking tool consists of following major parts and their functions are stated below.\r\n\r\nTop Plate\r\nThe punch assembly consisting of punch, punch holder and thrust plate is mounted on the top plate with screws and dowels. Shank also screwed to top plate.\r\n\r\nBottom Plate\r\nBottom plate is the base of the tool. The die and guide pillars are fitted to this plate. It provides cushioning effect to the die. It employs an opening at bottom to collect the output blanked part.\r\n\r\nBlanking Die Plate\r\nDie is one of important cutting tool in the blanking tool. The size or contour of the die opening will be same as the dimension of the desired output component.\r\n\r\nBlanking Punch\r\nPunch is the other important cutting tool in the blanking tool. A force is exerted on the punch by the press to punch the strip placed on the die. The size of the punch will be smaller than the dimension of the desired component. It will penetrate into die for minimum of 3 to 5mm. \r\n\r\nStripper Plate\r\nAfter blanking operation when punch is withdrawn back, the blanked part adhere (Stick on) to punch surface. To facilitate removal of part from punch, stripper used. Also it used for guiding punch and to hold the strip flat during punching operation.\r\n\r\nThrust Plate\r\nWhile punching the strip, the punch exerts an upward thrust. To prevent that thrust being transmitted to top plate, a thrust or back plate is provided behind the punch. Otherwise it will damage the top plate.\r\n\r\nPunch Holder\r\nIt is a plate used to hold the punch in position without any transition. Punch holder provides a rigid support to the punch during punching.\r\n\r\nGuide Bush and Pillar\r\nGuide pillar and bushes are used to align the top and bottom plate. They keep the complete alignment of tool during entire operation.\r\n\r\nShank\r\nShank is a connector between tool and the press ram. It is screwed to the top plate firmly. This project is to provide an apparatus for shining shoes which overcome the problem encountered in the conventional one. Flat conveyor belt is used to transfer or convey shoe from initial point to operation section. Worm gear is used lock one motion while cylindrical brush like pendulum motion moving in forward direction it locks backward motion. Rack and pinion mechanism is used to grip the shoe while it reached in operation section and ungrip after completing polishing operation.\r\nElectronics\r\nSecond part of project is electronics which consists of circuit board, wires and power supply. Dc motors and stepper motors are connected to Arduino through drivers because high current and voltage required actuating these motors. We cannot give high current and voltage directly. Therefore we required drivers to actuate these motors.\r\nArduino Programming\r\nWe programmed arduino according to our desired sequence. As soon as shoe is put on conveyor, IR proximity sensor detects the shoe then sensor sends a signal to ardiuno to actuate stepper motor for certain steps (revolution) according to given instructions. The shoe is reached operation section where polishing of shoe is done according to given instructions. Then ardiuno actuates second stepper motor for certain steps to grip shoe. Polishing process starts and during polishing\r\n\r\nConclusion\r\n\r\nIn this project report we conclude that this project can be further enhanced by doing some modifications as discussed in recommendations.\r\nThe main objective to design an automatic shoe polishing is save the time by reducing human effort. We have succeeded to design such a project but our design is restricted for standard shoes. The machine polishes the pair of shoe in just a short interval of 100 seconds. Both the holding tanks and the filtration system will be incorporated into the design of the sidecar as to provide an entire system that is portable and can be easily retrofitted to most standard bicycles.\r\nGiven that our design must target a demographic that includes some of the poorest regions in the world, reliability is one of the primary factors incorporated into the design. The functionality of the pump and filter system needs to require as little maintenance as possible. The design must also be user-friendly as the assumption will be made that users will have no experience with any vehicle of this type. Fig. 1.2 (a) shows the valve gear arrangement for vertical engines. The main components of the mechanism are valves, rocker arm, valve springs, push rod, cam and camshaft.\r\n\r\nThe fuel is admitted to the engine by the inlet valve and the burnt gases are escaped through the exhaust valve. In vertical engines, the cam moving on the rotating camshaft pushes the cam follower and push rod upwards, thereby transmitting the cam action to rocker arm. The camshaft is rotated by the toothed belt from the crankshaft. Total deformation\r\n2. Equivalent strain\r\n3. Equivalent stress\r\n4. Shear stress\r\nCONCLUSION\r\nThe analytical design calculation has been calculated and then 3D modeling of the Rocker arm is done by using Creo parametric 2.0 software. The modeling was done using Creo by the help of the calculated parameters and the values. The stress analysis of the Rocker arm was found out manually by using formula and data taken from the Design data book, and then the specified stress concentration was analyzed by using ANSYS. The result found was compared with the values found out manually. Lathes have been used on woodworking, metal parts and also on plastic nylon parts for a long time in the industry. So here we study the design and fabrication of a mini lathe machine. Our machine consists of a motor with belt arrangement used to drive the lathe chuck. The machine consists of a bed with a movable arrangement. It consists of a holder in order to hold the desired tool in desired position. We use a chuck attached to the spindle shaft in order to run the motor. Our motor once powered transmits this power to the spindle through a belt mechanism, which is then used to rotate the chuck. This rotates the workpeice in chuck. The machine is built to hold and rotate the workpeice and move the tool in a sliding mechanism, so as to achieve the desired operations.\r\nThe machine outer frame is designed to hold the workpeice firmly with tool in place so as to achieve desired operations with ease. Thus we successfully study the design and fabrication.\r\n\r\nParts of Mini Lathe Machine\r\n\r\n1.Motor\r\n\r\nDC motor is any of a class of rotary electrical machines that converts direct current electrical energy into mechanical energy. The most common types rely on the forces produced by magnetic fields. Nearly all types of DC motors have some internal mechanism, either electromechanical or electronic, to periodically change the direction of current flow in part of the motor .\r\n\r\n2.chuck\r\n\r\nA chuck is a specialized type of clamp. It is used to hold an object with radial symmetry, especially a cylinder. In drills and mills it holds the rotating tool whereas in lathes it holds the rotating workpiece. On a lathe the chuck is mounted on the spindle which rotates within the headstock. For some purposes (such as drilling) an additional chuck may be mounted on the nonrotating tailstock.\r\n\r\n3.Sliding Frame\r\n\r\nThe sliding frame is an elliptical welding construction made from solid steel and specially developed as a silo discharge system for very difficult flowing bulk material . Through the back and forth movement of the sliding frame, the stored product is compulsively transported to one or more discharge screw conveyors.\r\n\r\nThe sliding frame is moved back and forth by means of a hydraulic cylinder mounted outside the silo. The cylinder movement is activated by means of a compact hydraulic unit.\r\n\r\n4.Bearing\r\n\r\nA bearing is a machine element that constrains relative motion to only the desired motion, and reduces friction between moving parts. The design of the bearing may, for example, provide for free linear movement of the moving part or for free rotation around a fixed axis; or, it may prevent a motion by controlling the vectors of normal forces that bear on the moving parts. Most bearings facilitate the desired motion by minimizing friction. Bearings are classified broadly according to the type of operation, the motions allowed, or to the directions of the loads (forces) applied to the parts.\r\n\r\n5.Jaint\/Screw\r\n\r\nA nut is a type of fastener with a threaded hole. Nuts are almost always used in conjunction with a mating bolt to fasten multiple parts together. The two partners are kept together by a combination of their threads' friction (with slight elastic deformation), a slight stretching of the bolt, and compression of the parts to be held together.\r\n\r\n6.Lathe Cutting Tool\r\n\r\nA tool bit is a non-rotary cutting tool used in metal lathes, shapers, and planers. Such cutters are also often referred to by the set-phrase name of single-point cutting tool, as distinguished from other cutting tools such as a saw or water jet cutter. The cutting edge is ground to suit a particular machining operation and may be resharpened or reshaped as needed. The ground tool bit is held rigidly by a tool holder while it is cutting.\r\n\r\nWORKING PRINCIPLE\r\n\r\nThe lathe is a machine tool which holds the workpiece between two rigid and strong supports called centers or in a chuck or face plate which revolves. The cutting tool is rigidly held and supported in a tool post which is fed against the revolving work.
