Thus a correct hole is produced with good finish of a predrilled hole using a reamer. A common hand reamer is shown in Fig. It is commonly employed to remove minimum amount of metal (100 to 150 micron for rough reaming and 5 to 20 micron for fine reaming) from the hole. During reaming operations, the job should be properly supported and rigidly held. \r\n\r\nA stock wrench of appropriate size for holding the reamer is used. The reamer must be kept in its correct position relative to the job. It must be run slowly and excessive feed must be avoided. It should be always be turned in the cutting direction. Sufficient amount of cutting fluid should also be employed. When removing the reamer, it must be turned in the cutting direction. Reamers with blunt or chipped edges must not be used.\r\n\r\n reamer Nomenclature\r\n\r\nPROCESS VARIATIONS\r\nNo special machines are used for reaming. Reaming can be performed on drilling machines, lathes, milling machines and machining centers, or by hand.\r\nBasic reamer types include: hand (straight and tapered), machine (rose and fluted), shell, expansion, adjustable and indexible insert reamers. Titanium nitride coatings are sometimes used to increase tool life. Combination drills and reamers are also available.\r\n\r\nTYPICAL APPLICATIONS\r\nAny component requiring accurate, cylindrical or tapered holes with good surface finish, either blind or through after a primary hole making operation, typically drilling.\r\n\r\nDESIGN ASPECTS\r\n\r\n \tComplexity limited to straight or tapered cylindrical blind or through holes.\r\n \tIdeally, reaming allowances should be 0.1mm per 5mm of diameter, i.e. for a finished reamed hole \u00d820 mm, the pilot hole should be approximately \u00d819.6mm. However, drilled holes prior to reaming should be standard size, wherever possible.\r\n \tAllowances should be made for reamer-end chamfers and the slight taper on some reamers when machining blind holes, although more suited to through holes.\r\n \tStandard sizes used wherever possible.\r\n \tThrough holes preferred to blind holes.\r\n \tSizes ranging \u00d83\u2013\u00d8100 mm\r\n\r\nTypes of reamers\r\nThe reamers are classified as under.\r\n(i) Hand reamer\r\n(ii) Machine reamers\r\n(iii) Parallel reamer\r\n(iv) Taper reamer\r\n(v) Reamers with straight flutes\r\n(vi) Reamers with spiral flutes\r\n(vii) Adjustable reamer\r\n(viii) Expanding reamer\r\n\r\nSome common types of reamer generally used in fitting shops are discussed as under.\r\n\r\nHand reamer\r\nHand reamer is operated or rotated by hand to finish holes and remove its ovality. Its cutting edges are backed off in the same manner as those of twist drills to give suitable clearance. It is made up of carbon or high speed steel. It is used for very fine internal turning in the hole by placing a tap wrench on the squared end of the reamer.\r\n\r\nMachine reamer\r\nMachine reamer is designed for slow speeds for use on drill presses, lathes, vertical milling machines etc. It is chamfered on the front side of cutting edge. It possesses straight or tapered shanks and comprises of either straight or spiral flutes.\r\n\r\nTaper reamer\r\nTaper reamer is widely used for finishing taper holes smoothly and accurately. It is also used to provide a taper to a drilled hole when a taper pin is to be used. It is generally performed with either straight or spiral flutes. It has spaces ground into the cutting edges or teeth to prevent overloading the entire length of each tooth of the reamer. These spaces are staggered on the various teeth to help in stock removal. The spiral fluted reamer has a shearing action that eliminates chatter and is generally preferred. Large size taper reamers are made in both roughing and finishing types. When a large amount of stock is to be removed, a roughing reamer is generally used. The geometrical construction that fulfils the laid objective is Reuleaux Triangle . Additionally, for this geometry to work like a rotating drive (such as a drill press) must force the Reuleaux triangle to rotate inside a square, and that requires a square guide to constrain the Reuleaux triangle as well as a special coupling to describe the fact that the center of rotation also in moves within in the constrain. The practical importance of this enhancement is that the driving end can be placed in a standard drill press; the other end is restricted to stay inside the fixed square, will yield a perfectly square locus and this can be turned into a working square-to drill hole.\r\n\r\nINTRODUCTION\r\nHole serves various purposes in all machine elements. These holes may be round, square, rectangular or any other shape depending on the requirement or design. For circular holes, the machines are available in the market. But for square or any other type of holes, the Methods currently used are broaching, electrode-discharge machine (E.D.M.), and electro-chemical machine. These are very much expensive and require special tools or machines. The reuleaux triangle is one example of a wide class of geometrical discovery by germam mechanical engineer Franz Reuleaux , discussed the famous curvy triangle that is started being used in numerous mechanisms Watts Brother Tool Works. Although Franz Reuleaux was not the first to draw and to consider the shape formed from the intersection of three circles at the corners of an equilateral triangle .But the use of this curve and its special properties for producing polygonal holes was given by Sir James Watts in 1914 and the geometry has been constantly evolving from day to day exactly reproduce the square in which it revolves.\r\n\r\n Problem statement\r\nMaterial removal in electrical discharge machining which involves the generation of debris in the working gap that comprises eroded with\r\nelectrode particles and by-products of dielectric decomposition. Uniformly distributed gap contamination of a certain thresholds is desirable in the interest of discharge .However excessive debris concentration confined to isolated domains in the gap because of insufficient flushing leads to repeated localization of the discharge in a particular location.\r\nThis will have unfavorable ramifications on process strength, stability, geometry and integrity of the machined surface. Adequate gap flushing is therefore significant in terms of both machining productivity and the quality of the machining surface. Flushing could be accomplished by forced flow of the dielectric fluids through holes in the tool, but flushing holes leaves their footprints on the machined surface, as the work shape produced in\r\nEDM is complementary to that of the tool. Flushing could alternatively be through micro holes,which is specially fabricated in the tool . In the instance that it is infeasible to provide flushing holes in either of the electrodes, the dielectric could be directed and controlled at the gap in the form of a jet from outside the machining area. This technique is not effective when the machined depth or the frontal machining\r\narea is large.\r\n\r\n square hole drilling\r\n\r\nWORKING PRINCIPLE\r\nThe main idea for manufacturing a special tool for fulfilling the laid objectives is to make a mechanism which will transform the rotational\r\nmotion of a shaft about its longitudinal axis to revolving motion around the same axis in a given profile which is confined by four governing ellipses at each corner ,having their centre at the vertices of confining square which will guide the tool in confined profile keeping the rotation intact. This will lead to the cutting of the square geometry as required for the purpose. The rotation of tool with the same rpm as that of the chuck , which is necessary to overcome a large amount of force to cut a metallic component. Revolution becomes an integral part so the Reuleaux triangle centre is not fixed and it has to moved in a profile which is made by those four ellipses. After following the basic principles a need arises to put the components together without compromising the working of each components .\r\n\r\nCOMPONENTS\r\ni) 3- Point Cutting Tool The special tool mounted on RT which has 3 cutting edge in order to obtain the square hole.The tool is made up of EN36,which has high hardness strength. Predrilling is highly recommended, this reduces wear on tooling and the amount of swarf to be removed.it also relives some pressure on the tool\r\nand hence has greater tool life.The tool is mounted on a Reuleaux triangle of 25mm , the tool is made of EN36.\r\n\r\nii) Supporting Member\r\nSquare guide is a stationary part that guides the Reuleaux triangle to move in square shape and also helps the RT to rotate in fixed plane ,square guide is connected to drilling machine using two steel rods , these rods are clamped to the drilling machine by using clampers. Clampers are provided to attach supporting member to portable drilling machine. In order to obtain the smooth running of RT inside the square guide, we made the square hole of size larger than the width of RT, hence we can ensure rotation of tool without jamming inside the square hole.\r\nSize of square hole =30cm\r\nMaterial: Mild Steel\r\n\r\nUniversal joint\r\nUniversal joint is used to connect two shafts at an angle for transmitting torque. The centre of RT must rotate itself and also revolves in a noncircular path ,by using universal joint RT can revolve in noncircular path. coupling or joint which can transmit rotary power by a shaft at any selected angle, coupling in a rigid rod that allows the rod to 'bend' in any direction, and is commonly used in shafts that transmit rotary motion. It consists of a pair of hinges located close together, oriented at 90\u00b0 to each other, connected by a cross shaft. The universal joint is not a constant-velocity joint.\r\n\r\nDrilling Machine\r\nTo provide rotating motion to RT and tool ,the impact drill is used .The end of universal joint is connected to tool holder of drilling machine. The spindle speed is constant for all operations, while the cutting speed varies all along the cutting edge.\r\nCutting speed is normally computed for the outside diameter. The center of the chisel edge the cutting speed is zero; at any point on the lip and it is\r\nproportional to the radius of that point. Go-karts have 4 wheels and a small engine. They are widely used in racing in US and also they are getting popular in India. Go-Karting is a big craze to the Americans and Europeans. It is initially created in United States in 1950s and used as a way to pass spare time. Gradually it became a big hobby and other countries followed it. In India go-karting is getting ready to make waves. A racing track is ready in Nagpur for go-karting and Chennai is also trying to make one. Indian companies are also producing go-karts in small scale. MRF and Indus motors are the major bodies in karts and they are offering karts between 2 lakh and 3 lakh. But to make go-karts popular, the price must come down. For that, many people are trying to build one under 1 lakh and we had also take up the challenge and make our under 78 K. This is a dream come true. A go-kart just under Rs. 100000\/-. So we are sure that our project will have a high demand in the industry and also we are hoping to get orders from the racing guns.\r\n\r\nIntroduction:\r\nGo-kart is a simple four-wheeled, small engine, single Seated racing car used mainly in United States. They were initially created in the 1950s, Post-war period by airmen as a way to pass spare time. Art Ingles is generally accepted to be the father of karting. He built the first kart in Southern California in 1956. From then, it is being popular all over America and also in Europe. A Go-kart, by definition, has no suspension and no differential. They are usually raced on scaled down tracks, but are sometimes driven as entertainment or as a hobby by non-professionals. Karting is commonly perceived as the stepping stone to the higher and more expensive ranks of motor sports. Kart racing is generally accepted as the most economic form of motor sport available. As a free-time activity, it can be performed by almost anybody and permitting licensed racing for anyone from the age of 8 onwards. Kart racing is usually used as a low-cost and relatively safe way to introduce drivers to motor racing. Many people associate it with young drivers, but adults are also very active in karting. Karting is considered as the first step in any serious racer\u2019s career. It can prepare the driver for highs-speed wheel-to-wheel racing by helping develop guide reflexes, precision car control and decision-making skills. In addition, it brings an awareness of the various parameters that can be altered to try to improve the competitiveness of the kart that also exist in other forms of motor racing.\r\n\r\nGo-Karts In India\r\nHome of go-karts in India. Many people take part in the racing and is getting popular. Go-karts emerged in India in 2003 from MRF, which has a 250cc two-stroke engine, which produce 15 bhp of power, which costs around 3 lakh. Indus motors are also offering Go-karts for 2 lakh to 3 lakh. There are racing tracks in Nagpur for go-karting, which is known as the home of go-karts in India. Many people take part in the racing and is getting popular.\r\n\r\n Parts Of A Go \u2013 Kart :\r\n\r\n In a Go-Kart, there are mainly six parts. \r\n\r\nThey are \r\n\r\n1. Chassis, \r\n\r\n2 .Engine, \r\n\r\n3. Steering, \r\n\r\n4. Transmission \r\n\r\n5. Tiers \r\n\r\n6. Brake, and \r\n\r\n7. Electric Starter.\r\n\r\n Fabrication of a Model Go-Kart\r\n\r\nWorking Of Automatic Transmission :\r\nThis go-kart has no gears and clutches. The transmission we use is not manual, it is automatic. For this purpose, we use continuously variable transmission. We use pulley and belt system type CVT.\r\n\r\nFor example, when the pitch radius is small on the driving pulley and large on the driven pulley, then the rotational speed of the driven pulley decreases resulting in a lower \u2018gear\u2019. When the pitch radius is large on the driving pulley and small on the driven pulley, then the rotational speed of the driven pulley increases resulting in a higher \u2018gear\u2019. Thus in theory, a CVT has an infinite number of \u2018gears\u2019 that it can run through at any time, at any engine or vehicle speed\r\n\r\nFabrication\r\n\r\n Chassis: The chassis is constructed with the GI pipe as per dimensions and bends in required places using bending machine. Then the pipes are welded rigid. Strength evaluation is made. The results obtained are The Max strength is 23.33n\/mm2,strain 9.2 E-S and maximum displacement is .1157mm.\r\n\r\nAxle: The required shaft is taken as per the dimensions and turned on the lathe Sprocket: The sprocket is welded on the axle at required place. \r\n\r\nBrake: The brake is also placed in the axle in the left side. The boredom is connected to it and is connected to left pedal in front of kart. Accelerator: The accelerator pedal is placed is the right side of the front of the kart and is connected to the engine. \r\n\r\nEngine: The engine is mounted in the chassis and the chain is connected to the sprocket and engine. \r\n\r\nFuel Tank: The fuel tank is placed in the upper position of the engine level using clamps and bolts. \r\n\r\nMuffler: The two pipes are taken as per the dimension and join together. Then 3 \u2018V\u2018 Shaped cuts are made in large cylinder and 3 washers are placed inside it and the \u2018V\u2018 cuts are re welded and grinded. The inlet end of muffler is bolted to the exhaust of engine and also a rubber bush is placed to support the muffler.\r\n\r\n Rear Wheels And Tyres: The 2 wheels are connected to the both ends of the axle and bolted together. Then the assembly is connected to the chassis using 2 bushed bearing.\r\n\r\nSteering: The steering spindle and steering are made as per the dimensions and bolted together. This is connected to the plate and link mechanism. This mechanism is connected to the 2 front wheels. Seat: First the seat is mounted on seat stand using bolts and the seat is bolted on the chassis. \r\n\r\nElectric Start: The battery is placed under the seat and connected to the starting motor using wires. And the switch is placed in the steering spindle stand. \r\n\r\nPainting: The painting is done to increase the appearance to the kart. The chassis, steering and steering spindle, wheels, seat, muffler, engine cover etc. are painted using different colours.
